Arnold RIM Trail Update

Hi Folks interested in the Arnold Rim Trail...The committee of citizens interested in the A.R.T. met at the Forest Service Headquarters in Hathaway Pines Tuesday, March 12th. Attached are the minutes ably taken by Diana Fischer who graciously volunteered for the task. Thanks to Diana....

Please mark your calendars for the next meeting on Tuesday, March 4th, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, again at the Forest Service Office in Hathaway Pines. Enter at the side entrance on the right as the main doors will be locked in front. Thanks to the Forest Service for offering their venue for us to meet.

Please plan to arrive a couple of minutes ahead of time so that the meeting may be gaveled to order promptly at 5:30 pm. We learned at this last meeting that we must move briskly if we are to cover all agenda items in the hour and a half allotted time. There has also been a request that the meeting end on time; we shall plan to finish at 7 so folks can get home to their families.

Happy trails to you until we meet again,
Steve Lauterbach
A.R.T. project meeting scheduler

Arnold Rim Trail Meeting Minutes – Feb. 12, 2008, 5:00 – 6:30 pm

Location: Hathaway Pine U.S. Forest Service Office

There were about 14 people who attended and Randy Crutcher’s agenda along with Steve Lauterbach’s timekeeping kept the meeting focused and on schedule.

Grants/grant funds: Lonnie is continuing work on the grant application. Monies come from a federal hwy grant funded by gas tax funds, to be distributed by the state, to be directed towards our recreational trail project. By next month Lonnie should know where we are in the grant process.

$500 has been donated to the ART by a local property owner. Since there is no ART fund raising venue or account the monies have been put in the FoCus account for now.

Mary, the District Park and Recreation Commissioner attended and shared about monies available from Prop 40 for ART signage. We need to have a viable plan in place by June in order to hopefully get the money. Towards that end members Randy Crutcher, Lonnie Allison, Warren Alford and John Gleason will meet separately to address scheduling for the necessary community meeting. They will discuss a meeting location, date, time, and agenda, trying to anticipate questions and concerns, and plan for a smooth meeting that will inform people and allow a format for all questions and concerns to be answered. They will work with Merita Callaway to be sure all deadlines are met and it will be clear the issue of motorized vs. non-motorized use has been settled and is not part of this process. Lonnie and Mary will get together to work on the needed memorandum of understanding between the Forest Dept. and A.R.T.

Various ways to effectively communicate with Lakemont, Meadomont and Mill Woods residents were discussed due to the ways they will be impacted and the concerns they will most likely have.

The next meeting for the committee as a whole is Tues. March 4, 5:30PM to 7 PM at the Hathaway Pines Ranger Station.

Above minutes taken by Diana Fischer

Attendee list*: Warren Alford, Lonnie Allison, Mary Boblet, Barry Boulton, Bruce Castle, Randy Crutcher, Diana & Ed Fischer, John Gleason, Addie Jacobson, Steve Lauterbach, Bill Lorenz, Derek Oliver, Kyle Stock, Tyler Summersett

*Attendee list is Steve Lauterbach’s best recollection. Since we did not have a sign-in sheet, it may be incomplete. Apologies to anyone not listed.
