Supervisor Mills & Supervisor Tofanelli Served Recall Notices At Today's Meeting!!

San Andreas, CA...Well for those of you who thought the reality show that is the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors might have a calm meeting or two before the drama picked back up you were mistaken. Before they broke for lunch Board Chair, Supervisor Tofanelli & Supervisor Dennis Mills were served recall notices and read a litany of complaints and misdeeds from the perspective of the complainants. We have carved out a few minutes of video that encapsulates the bulk of it.

The PIG Mills and the SNAKE Toffenelli were both served and their unlawful misdeeds will soon be exposed. They are supposed to help and assist this county and its resident's but these two have failed miserably and will be exposed to the wrath of the legal system and public process. Find a tall bridge and... No one will miss you

He also has the vocabulary of middle schooler, it’s funny listening to him and clapp mispronounce words all the time.

They were the ones, along with Clyde Clapp, who were courageous enough to ignore the hype of a few hundred growers who are scraping and terracing our hillsides, sending their fertilizers downstream, and causing problems to neighbors. These three actually are representing the majority of Calaveras County that does not want commercial cultivation here. Call them names all you want. They are doing their job. Commercially cultivate elsewhere.

Get a grip, I do not smoke or user and can not stand either one of them. What have either one of them accomplished in a year? Please, prove me wrong so I can change my mind. A ban? That is no accomplishment without a plan and funding to put it into motioin. They have successfully put the county on the road to financial disaster.

Mills is such a complete disappointment. Instead of offering leadership on all the things that are important to this county, the only thing he can talk about is pot. I am sorry I voted for him and I will certainly support the recall.

Now I hear he wants to talk to us about all the other things he wants to talk to us about....nothing about doing something. Please Dennis, I like you personally, but please step aside so someone with a bigger vision than green plants can help us move this county into the future. For a year you have had a chance, now its time for a new leader.

Problem is, ban cultivation? Now you have more then 700 farms that you have to make sure are in compliance, correct? But with the ban, you just lost deputies that commercial marijuana taxes employed. Given the fact that if a deputy leaves this county (no matter how much he may love it here) to work down the hill, the pay is almost double from what he/she makes here. This county is sinking into bankruptcy, a ban will seal it's fate. These nincompoops on the BOS have been kicking this can down the road for how long now? Damn folks, this is our show of a government shutdown, by doing nothing for the last two years.
So if you ban, who's gonna pay to keep the boat afloat? Taxpayers, don't make it the home or property owner, make it everyone. It's not fair to tax a few like you do for the dump run, make every single person pay, like a sales tax.
Remember, you ban it, you lose deputies and criminals will be running around pretty much doing what-ever they want. Heck, you let felons out of your jail now because you can't afford to keep them. Think it's bad now? This is just the tip of the iceberg. It's gonna get a whole lot worse.
Remember, measure twice, cause you only get to cut once.

Incorrect. With a ban those 700 farms are illegal should they continue to operate. So in theory, there will be no enforcement manpower requirement because everyone who registered is a law abiding, truthful and honest citizen. Enforcement resources can now wholly be directed to illegal cultivators. The "good" grower, "bad" grower game/farce is done. Why this Board, or the previous Board, thought the citizens of a fundamentally conservative county such as ours would buy into regulated commercial cannabis makes no sense. I doubt Mr. Mills or Mr. Tofanelli have much to worry about here.

If you lived in Calaveras County a few years ago, before the construction of the jail and sheriff's office, you'd know about the jail and the release requirement. The elected people at the time wanted a new jail that the county could not then and not now afford to staff for full occupancy. Thank you, Tom Tryon, Meriita Callaway, Gary Tofanelli Russ Thomas and Steve Wilensky.
How many of you growers know your benefactors?
It would be funny and interesting to see Tom Tryon arrested and incarcerated in the jail he voted to build.
So to you growers, slip them another thick, padded, white envelope for your early release card.

Perhaps others have noted that even the humane society walked away from negotiating with the county and is renovating an existing building (the old chiropractic office on 49 outside of Angels). We cannot seem to afford anything truly needed and remain a poor county.

You mean measure J yeah thanks for the FYI. Remember what cluster that project was? I do. Remember how embroiled in it tofanelli was? I do. Remember the addition they made to the government center parking lot and the telecommunications system out of measure J funds that had nothing to do with the jail project? I do. Around that same time tofanelli also violated the brown act when having a meeting about the floodnolain maps. Gary is a petty man with a weak chin line, that thing is really an implant.

And Calaveras has a long history of saying no to any new taxes which will most certainly be necessary to even maintain existing services. Many would argue that even those - say, road maintenance, are not up to par as it is.

Wow. If 700 growers are cultivating, and just over 200 are permitted, then about 500 are doing so without permits. This is unacceptable. What other business is allowed to operate without a permit. What other business is forgiven for not grading and draining properly? What other business can infringe on neighbors with impunity. Enough. Commercially cultivate elsewhere. Colorado has more bans than regulating districts. Why do you think that is?

It would seem many here were raised in an authoritarian versus authoritative manner. Meaning never question the status quo and hide any wrongdoing so you don't get punished. A government where actions cannot be questioned and representatives held accountable is no democracy at all.

or the one who serves your alcohol at the bar when you belly up? Oh my!!!
I'm so sorry, I hate to put your precious alcohol up up there, but then again, you boozers kill a
minimum 10,000 people a year, women, children, it makes no matter, your drinking kills them, no ifs, ans or buts.
Now with marijuana being legal, I'm afraid the deaths will only rise.
So please don't act like it's just marijuana that's a bad thing, it's that cocktail in your hand, that you just can't get enough of Mr High and Mighty (drunk)

Sure they do. They move the plastic straw to the side with a finger so as not to get poked in the eye, and chug-a-lug their drink. Nothing is worse then a guy in a bar getting poked in the eye by a plastic straw when getting hammered. It makes you look like a light weight who can't drink out at a bar and drive home.

You need to get over this. Legal farmers are paying taxes. I also have a cousin in the Central Valley who's been paid by the government the past couple of years NOT to grow cotton because there's a surplus and one must maintain prices. I wonder if that upsets you nearly as much as marijuana growers actually working.

Tourism is a primary industry for Calaveras County.

The wineries are getting better and better in terms of the product they produce. This brings in more tourists. They stay in B&B and hotels, eat in restaurants, buy at shops, buy gas to get home again. Napa vintners are now even starting to buy Calaveras grapes because of their good quality.

Can you say the same for cannabis growers?

Not necessary but perhaps it will help if I say I'm also fourth generation. We should all be very considered about the ban's future financial and safety consequences.

If Calevaras didn't allow it "legally" in the first place we wouldn't have this problem. People would still be growing as they always did, just unchecked and unregulated and untaxed. The people fighting the decision are fighting being able to do it legally. They invested into the industry, which isn't cheap, and being forced out before they can even recover their funds. I feel for those if you who tried to be legal. Laugh at those who are forcing it back to the way it used to be, because that's whats better for everyone else who stayed off county radar and who said F YOU to the system, as they should. Nope, your mad at the people who wanted to do it legally and clueless to the mass numbers who don't. Hey, what can I say 12 less sheriffs make it a lot earier to not get caught. Broke county, here we come! Funny part is these dumb ass people, lets face it....Republicans. Never know whats good for them and vote against their interest everytime! Its a sure thing. So to those of you fighting to keep it legal, and trying to build up this county. I ask... WHY? look at the idiots you are helping with your taxes. Read those comments, let those republicans take this county into bankruptcy and sucle at the tit of the feds they love so much. Just know republicans... Your butts are on government welfare! You know, that thing you claim to hate... HAHAHA. Eat it!

The Feds have visited C County. To small of a cannabis problem to intervene. Also cannabis eradication is not currently on the Federal budget. They have no time for small counties

It's good to see that the 10 million dollars in cannabis taxes have improved our roads. They may even paint the yellow lines with gold now that the taxes have helped us out so much. Legalize it or ban it, Illegal grows have always been here and they will always be here.

Please remember that the initial money collected from growers was earmarked for regulation and enforcement. It did not go to the general fund or distributed to other agencies. Too soon in the process.

Yes - and now the county is using some of that money (likely spent) to pay back the growers who did not passing licensing requirements.

Where are the hot women around here? There's some gals in that Angels Camp bar on the corner, givin me the evil eye when I sat down for a beer. Unruly pos she was, then I figured she was a dyke. Fine, give me a beer, but don't be a rude slob about it. With an attitude like that no wonder no man alive would touch that big, rude thing. Then some cowboy in the bar put his hand on my back, rubbing it up and down and asked if I wanted to go to the movies with him. What the hell happened to this place? Y'all better have you water supply tested or somethin, there's somethin mighty wrong with you all compared to 20 years ago. Zombies looking criminals prowling around at night, gay bar, cowboys wanting to date a man??? You folks got bigger problems then this here marijuana debate, that's for damn sure.

This county is pathetic. Can't even figure out how to make money from a state legal thriving industry. All our golf courses are closed , and the people with money are leaving to invest and raise families elsewhere. I'm embarrassed to say I'm from Calaveras.

Ambitious people leave Calaveras County; lazy people stay. After a while you get to the county we have now.

You called it. Ambitious, smart young people leave for opportunity and further education. There is nothing for them here anymore except minimum wage, CalWorks and having babies too young for marriages to last.

No, it's always been the same. The attractive and intelligent ones seeking more opportunities leave. There have always been gay cowboys, too, but now it's okay to come out. As a longtime friend and resident once said to me about meeting someone up here, "The odds are good but the goods are odd." ;)
