The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved McLaughlin’s application to the commission during its weekly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 5.
McLaughlin, founder and owner of McLaughlin & Associates, replaces former District 2 Commissioner Holly Mines.
"My academic and experiential credentials are an excellent resource to draw from for this experience," McLaughlin wrote in her application for the position. “I have assisted many communities with planning and economic development projects."
McLaughlin holds a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from California State University, Fresno, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Planning and Management from the University of California at Davis.
"Calaveras is a unique place to live with wonderful assets, especially the people who live here," she stated in her application. "Through this position, I hope to adequately represent their wishes as the county grows."
In other commission news, District 3 Commissioner Suzanne Kuehl was re-elected unanimously to serve as the commission’s chair. The commission also voted 5-1 approving Ted Allured, District 1 Commissioner, to serve another term as the commission’s vice chair.
The commission voted to continue agenda item 6.A., regarding the land use application for a tentative parcel map within Conner Estates Subdivision in Copperopolis. This item will be discussed at the Planning Commission’s next meeting on March 6.
