Nancy Shacklett 1920 - 2017

Murphys, CA...Nancy was born to Lloyd and Evelyn Garrison in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the age of ten, she and her family moved to Los Angeles where she grew up with her sister Barbara and brother Jack. She was a proud graduate of UCLA and a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She originally intended to pursue a career as a professional pianist, but decided to earn her teaching credential and taught young children for many years in Hawaii and California while raising a family of her own. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling within the United States and to other countries, learning about U.S. history, and researching the family’s genealogy.

She loved belonging to P.E.O., A.A.U.W, and Zeta Rho and made many wonderful and caring friends in these organizations.

Widowed three times, she is survived by her children and stepchildren: Monica Sander, Susan (Steve) Buis, David Baker, Jenny (Ron) Spicer, John (Judi) Shacklett, and Jim (Priscilla) Shacklett, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Hugh Sheldon, George Baker, and Jack Shacklett, as well as children: Jerry Shacklett and Jean Dickinson.

At her request, there will be no services.

Donations in her memory may be made to the P.E.O Foundation, P.E.O. Executive Office, Treasurer’s Dept., 3700 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50312 to aid young women in the pursuit of an education or to the Calaveras Humane Society, P. O. Box 2065, San Andreas, CA 95249
