Dodge Ridge Hosted the Ryan Lavagnino Classic Last Weekend

Dodge Ridge, CA...The Dodge Ridge Race Team played host this weekend to the Far West USSA ski race teams. It was the firs GS race for the year. The Central Series Teams that participated in this race were Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, Sierra Summit and Badger Pass. Even though the conditions were tough, there4 was still over 100 young ambitious athletes that performed well. It was cold and blustery at the top of the course. Everyone had to keep moving to stay warm. The Dodge Ridge Staff even brought up blankets to keep the starting line staff warm. The race was cancelled on Sunday due to Dodge Ridge receiving too much snow on Saturday night, which made it difficult to be able to set the course for Sunday. The results from Saturday's times determined the outcome for the weekend...

The Bear Valley Race team did very well. Jordan Cashman had the fastest overall time of all the competitors in the event. Jordan also took 1st place in the Mens/J5 class. The Dodge Ridge Event also featured a breakthrough performance from Bailey Rimmer. She skied to her first class win when she skied to the top spot for the J4/Ladies.

The battle for the J4/Mens class was the closest of the day. Mikael Proper took the top time by just 5 one hundredths of the second over fellow Bear Valley teammate Erik Arvidsson and both their times were just fractions of a second behind the overall fastest times turned in by Jordan. Max Naumcheff and Lucas Newcomb from the Yosemite Winter Club skied into third and fourth positions in this hotly contested class.

With Bailey Rimmer cruising to her first class win in the J4/Womens Class. Sierra Summit's Annabelle Beecher skied into second place. Dodge Ridge's Taylor Howell brought home the third place trophy on her home course. Bear Valley's Mackenzie Comstock skied into Fourth in the class.

The J5/Mens class was the largest on the field. The aforementioned Jordan Cashman took home the top spot. The Yosemite Winter Club's Andrew Hindes slid into second and Dodge Ridge's Spencer Crist and Erik Haket used their home court advantage to sew up the third and forth spots. Farther back in the pack some of the first year Bear Valley J5 team members are starting to climb in the results. Granger Hamilton scored in the points and received 10th place in the J5 Mens division, 14th place in the J6/J5 overall. Another first year team member, Tim Lunsford jumped several places into 17th place overall as well!

In the young J6/Mens class Sierra Summit's Timothy Bender was first. Dodge Ridge's Nick Pastenieks was second and John McGory was third. In the J6/Ladies Sierra Summit's Caroline Cole skied in first while Dodge Ridge's Kaylee McClenahan and Mckenzie Gast took second and third.

The J3/Ladies class featured great performances from Dodge Ridge's Shelby Seabaugh in first and Lynn Cronin in second. Bear Valley brought home third and forth place positions from Shelby White and Aline Bertrand. In the J3/Mens class Sierra Summit's Dan Hrynezuk took top honors followed by Dodge Ridge's Clancy McConnell and Walter Wesson

The J5/Ladies class had another great performance from one of those blazing fast Cashman kids. Bear Valley's Keely Cashman and Claire Bertrand took first and second. Dodge Ridge's Emily Ryan sped into third spot.

The Central Series teams will meet again on March 1st and 2nd in Sierra Summit for a GS and SG Race.

With the extreme weather conditions, it limited the amount of pictures we were able to caption. We also have just under 10 minutes of video below...
