Happy Valentine’s Day Male Readers!~By Jenny Baxter of Jenny's Kitchen

Well, I have always heard the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. But never have I heard about the way to a woman’s heart. So, I am going to let you in on a little secret called CHOCOLATE! How easy this holiday shopping and gift giving has been made for you. Just drop by any market or local florist and select a bouquet of fresh flowers. Or stop by a department store and purchase....

a bottle of perfume, aromatic bath products, or some jewelry. Of course, some of us are blessed that he just remembered at all. All of those gestures would be appreciated, but unfortunately ordinary and mundane. And her best friend and hair dresser probably received the exact same gift. So, if you really want to win her heart and make her feel that she is really special take her to the next level. Give her chocolate. And just not a box from your much loved confection shop, but a chocolate dessert that you have baked especially for her! HINT: It’s not in the present, but your presence she appreciates! Make your gift stand out so much that she’ll remember it for the next 364 days! It’s one day to express your love and appreciation, so don’t be ordinary!

So let me step the stage. Draw her a warm rose scented bubble bath. Ask her to follow the path of rose pedals scattered on the floor. Once she slips into the tub bring her a glass of her favorite beverage. Slide her favorite CD in, dim the lights and light the candles. Close the door and let her mind, body and soul slip away as the suds envelope her body.

Now it is time for you to get busy in the kitchen with your chocolate creation.

Here is what you will need:

9x13 pan

aluminum foil

medium size pot

large bowl

mixer

wooden spoon

2 sticks butter

lb. dark chocolate coarsely chopped

1/3 cup Crème de Menthe (or orange juice)

4 eggs

2 cups coarsely chopped walnuts

½ cup flour

11/2 cups sugar

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Place a sheet of aluminum foil in the baking pan and leave about 2 inches of foil extending over the long sides of the pan. Butter the foil along the bottom and the sides and set it aside.

Over a very low heat melt the butter, Crème de menthe, and chocolate. Stir this frequently so the chocolate does not scorch. When it is smooth remove it from the heat and set it aside.

Crack the eggs in the bowl and beat them with the electric mixer until they are foamy. ( You know this term guys. It looks like the head on your beers!) Gradually add the sugar and continue to beat with the electric mixer for a couple of minutes. Set the mixer to low and slowly add the chocolate mixture until blended. Stir the flour in with the wooden spoon.

Keep It Sensuously Simple (A food tip from Jenny.) When you measure the flour do not shake the cup to fill it. This will pack more flour than you need into the container. Simply take a heaping cup of flour from the bag or the canister and level it off with the blade of a knife.

Add the nuts and stir until blended.

Place the batter into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Take a breath and then think that she does this for me all the time. By now she is noticing the overwhelming aroma you’ve got bubbling in the oven. You’re half way there

Now while the brownies are baking warm her fluffy bath towel in the dryer and bring it to her. Extend your hand to help her out of the tub. Dry her off and lead her to the kitchen, (which by the way now you have cleaned!) Click on the oven light and let her view your masterpiece.

Once the brownies have baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool. Then place them in the refrigerator over night or for at least 6 hours before serving.

To serve the brownies , lift the foil by the long ends and invert it on a plate. Gently remove the foil by peeling it back. Invert the brownies again onto another plate smooth side up. Cut into squares and serve with a rose bud in the center.

Guys I want to tell you that she will love you forever because you have given her your special valentine, the gift of yourself!!

And for all you females that just couldn’t resist reading what I had to say to your men, next week’s article is just for you. Yes, you guessed it. What to do for him on Valentine’s Day.

Well, it’s thyme to go.
