Tuolumne Man Arrested on Various Charges
Tuolumne, CA...On Saturday evening, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home in the 18000 block of Evergreen Drive in Tuolumne. A caller reported 31-year-old Lawrence Thompson Jr. was at the residence loading his belongings into a vehicle. Thompson was wanted on several warrants for his arrest.
Thompson spotted the deputies and fled from the home. Deputies gave chase on foot. During the attempt to take him into custody, one of the a deputies received minor injuries to his face when he was struck by Thompson’s head. Thompson is known to carry a firearm and continually tried to reach for one of his pockets. He attempted to bite and kick the deputies during the struggle.
Once Thompson was placed into handcuffs, a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe was found in his pocket. He was placed into the patrol car and tried to slip his handcuffs by moving his arms over his feet and to the front of his body. As the deputy opened the door to the patrol car, Thompson attempted to flee but was not successful.
Thompson was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for resisting arrest, possession of drug use paraphernalia, violation of probation and five local arrest warrants.
The charges listed on the warrants included altering a vehicle's registration, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug use paraphernalia, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, and being armed with a loaded firearm while in possession of a controlled substance.
