Felicia M. Rodriguez, 23 Lost Her Life in Hwy 108 Collision Near Little Sweden

Pinecrest, CA...On Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at approximately 1:25 am, 23 year old Sonora resident, Felicia M. Rodriguez, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on State Route 108 west of Bald Mountain Heliport Rd (Little Sweden) at a high rate of speed in the #2 (right) lane. Rodriguez was unable to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway as she allowed her vehicle to travel into the #1 (left) lane and over corrected turning the vehicle back to the right. Rodriguez lost control of the vehicle traveling back into the #2 lane. The vehicle then traveled across both westbound lanes and onto the center median. The vehicle overturned twice and subsequently collided on the driver's side with a large pine tree in the center median. Rodriguez sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

32 year old Knights Ferry resident, Shasta M. Duckworth, was a passenger in the vehicle seated in the right front seat of the Silverado. Duckworth sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora. This collision is still under investigation. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor, autopsy pending.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends

How sad to be in such a hurry instead of slowing down and enjoying the beauty of where you are.
RIP

She WAS NOT in a hurry. It was late at night & she may have possibly underestimated the velocity of the turn. Shame on you for assuming she was "in a hurry" & "not driving slow enough to "enjoy the scenery". If you've ever been on that part of Hwy 108, IN THE DARK, drivers can not see anything as far as scenery. In addition, it's a steep down hill grade which makes your vehicle accelerate involuntarily. For all you know, maybe there was a mechanical issue with her vehicle.

R.I.P. Felicia
Little Sweden is a problem year round, not just in winter.
Peace

Yes, that part of Hwy 108 is an ongoing issue, no matter day or night or what season or road condition.
Thank You very much for your condolences. It means a lot to my family. A young life taken too soon no matter what the circumstances.

I'm not sure why you posted that song lyric but Thank You for taking time out to think of Felicia. Did you know her possibly & that means something between the 2 of you?
She will be missed beyond measure.

This poor woman lost her life, what a tragedy. My prayers are with her family and loved ones. Why, Mr editor, is this story buried under the pot busts ? I think life is way more important than a plant, legal or not.

Thank you for your kind words about my sweet Felicia. I agree that her story; sad & horrific as it is, deserves a better place in this newspaper. If only to just acknowledge & celebrate a life that was lost, even though this is a minor story of a plain girl. Felicia deserves to have her story published in a grand way, just as she looked at life. Our family is in shock, mourning, disbelief, denial, devastated, questioning God, angry, confused, financially needy, overwhelmed..... & during & amongst all these above emotions, trying to plan her service, her celebration of life & wondering how to pay for it all if our "GOFUNDME" page doesn't reach our goal? Also we are wondering how in the world are we going to go on without her precious, sweet, contagious smile, her funny, kind, compassionate soul & her amazingly positive & glorious outlook on life?
RIP our dear sweet baby girl. Godspeed to you "backwoodsrebel94"
