Violin Virtuoso Kim Angelis To Give Concert in Calaveras County May 13

Rail Road Flat, CA...Back by popular demand, violinist Kim Angelis of Astoria, Oregon will return to her former hometown of Rail Road Flat to give a fundraising performance on Saturday, May 13. The event will be the 8th annual “Tiger Fest,” which is organized by the Friends of Rail Road Flat School, and which each time features a different theme, such as Africa, South of the Border, and Gypsymania. For this year, the theme will be German selected by local chef for the night, Bell Francisco, who was born in Germany. The evening at the Rail Road Flat Community Hall will not only feature an Angelis performance but also a complete dinner with a hearty German flair. Doors open at 5:00 pm for a social hour at the no-host bar, followed by the performance at 6:00 pm. Dinner will be served at intermission.

The admission is $25 per person or $40 per couple (kids are discounted) and includes the concert, appetizers, dinner, and a complimentary beverage, which this year is the “Killepitsch Cocktail ,” a refreshing drink made with Killepitsch, pineapple juice, cranberry juice and soda.

Reservations can be made by phone 209-304-8932 or 209-256-7587 or by email chelle0820@sbcglobal.net or autumnandahl@gmail.com by May 6. A Super Raffle will be held in order to raise additional funds for the many school Enrichment Programs that the Friends produce. If you are unable to attend, the Friends encourage you to donate a raffle item.

Angelis is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning composer and violin virtuoso who has successfully transcended artistic boundaries – her music is built on a solid classical foundation, but the inspiration flows freely from Eastern Europe, Russia, and Spain.  Angelis’ brilliant compositions showcase the beauty, power, and excitement of her playing. With heels clicking and with heartwarming humility, Angelis mesmerizes her audiences. Playing drums with her will be Mark Dyken. Part of the event’s proceeds will go for the facility care of guitarist Josef Gault, husband of Angelis.

Angelis music has been featured on network TV, PBS, NPR, and during the 2000 Olympics, when world champion gymnast Kui Yuanyuan of China used Kim’s music for her floor exercise. For ten years, Angelis’ first CD, Violin Voyager, resided on the Taiwanese Billboard charts. The film Sweet Nothings features her music, which was nominated for Best Original Score by the California Independent Film Society and Best Score by the International Independent Film Tour. The 2005 release, Gypsy’s Odyssey, made Top Ten lists from Santa Cruz, CA, to Herford, Germany. In 2007, her song, “Zingaro!” won Global Rhythm Magazine’s international songwriting competition. She’s been recognized by the American Society of Composers and Publishers for her creative contributions to American music. In 2014, Kim Angelis was honored to represent the United States at Beijing World Music Week and at the Beishan World Music Festival in China.

The Friends of Rail Road Flat School operates as a non-profit organization under the auspices of the Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council. As such, all donations are tax deductible and can be sent to BMCRC at P.O. Box 223, Rail Road Flat, CA 95248.

Event occurs on 05/13/2017 from 05:00 PM to 09:00 PM.

Who cares? They have a bar though, we can DRINK BOOZE, get DRUNK and have us a good old time, and call it a fundraiser. Kids welcomed too, but I don't think I'd bring a child, too many DRUNKS will be there, too many DRUNKS will DRIVE after the bar closes.

This is a family friendly event that benefits a non-profit group supporting children and their education. It is not " a bar scene get drunk event". All responsible and respectful adults are welcome to attend, bring a designated driver if drinking , enjoy the dinner, entertainment, auction and perhaps a glass of wine. For the past 7 years it has been a very positive event with the proceeds from the auction and dinner the bar significantly larger than that of the bar. Thank you to all community members reading about this event for your positive comments and support.
