Chuck Duffy 1934 ~ 2017 (Update...Services March 11th)

Angels Camp, CA...Angels Camp lost one of its angels Thursday, March 2 2017. Chuck Duffy (Country Cloth Shop) passed away suddenly surrounded by family, he was 83 years old. He was a US Navy Veteran. Born in Detroit Michigan, he moved to Los Angeles at the age of 9 then to Alhambra, Calif where he lived until joining the Navy. Attended Mark Keppel High school where he met & married the love of his life, Ginger. Married 62 ½ years, they raised 6 children & were blessed with 13 grandchildren & one great grandson. He learned his expertise in electronics in the Navy, worked for Kaiser Aerospace in the Bay Area for 17 years, then moved to Angels Camp in 1980 to purchase the Country Cloth Shop and began a new phase in their life.

Chuck will be remembered for his sense of humor and his loyalty to family & friends. He gave the best hugs. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him. He was always ready with a handshake, wave, or one of his famous hugs. He never missed an opportunity to acknowledge a policeman, fireman, or veteran…he had the utmost respect for those serving others.

Holidays were always special to Chuck, he & Ginger were Santa & Mrs. Claus for several years in the annual Angels Camp Christmas parade. Chuck once served on the city planning commission and was a member of the Angels Camp Business Assn. One of his greatest joys was being active in his beloved Angels Camp community.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth & Joan Duffy, his brother Kenneth & his sister Arlene. Chuck is survived by Ginger Duffy, his wife of 62 years; his children, Teri (John), Kathy (Rocky), Wendy (Mike), Sheryl (Andy), Annette (Ray), and (FINALLY) his only son Steve (Erica); his grandchildren, JC (Charlette), Steven (Katie), Beau, Ronnie (Sarah), Alisha, Carrie, Lori, Lee, Kayla, Brenna, Travis, Jamie, and Ryan; his great grandson Nicky; his brother Neal & sister Carol, sister-in-law Vickie, brother-in-law Fred; and numerous nieces & one nephew.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Chuck Duffy at 1pm Saturday, March 11 at the Angels Camp Gun Club. Pot luck if you would like to bring something to share. There will be a small family gathering for a blessing at noon and at 1:00 the Navy Color Guard will start the celebration. The Duffy family would like to thank the community for surrounding us with love that cannot be compared to anything, one of the reasons Chuck loved this community so much!

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Chuck’s memory to Youth Connections Foundation Underserved & Gifted Program. This is an after school program in the bay area aimed at helping the city’s less fortunate teens achieve their artistic ambitions. This program is operated by Chuck’s grandson, Ronnie Patania.
