Copperopolis Town Square Hosting 31st Annual ‘First Taste of the Year’ Wine Festival

Copperopolis, CA...Copperopolis Town Square will host the 31st Annual “First Taste of the Year” wine festival on Saturday, Jan. 14 from noon to 5 p.m. More than 35 wineries from across the Sierra Foothills will participate, representing the best of Calaveras, Amador and Tuolumne counties. Live jazz from the Gypsy Trio and Bob Eisenman Band will complement artisan foods and appetizers, including gourmet wood fired pizza, burgers, cheeses, French bread and treats. A wide selection of custom crafts, artwork, clothes, gifts, wines, foods and souvenirs will also be available from local merchants. Activities and games for kids are also part of the planned festivities, including a visit from Captain Encouragement who will lead Super Hero training sessions.

Advance tickets are $15 ($20 at the door) and include a souvenir wine glass, 10 taste tickets, one raffle ticket and one tour ticket (must be 21 or over to purchase). Kids and adults not participating in wine tasting are Free. All proceeds benefit Historic Copperopolis via the Copperopolis Community Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the buildings, historic artifacts and history of Copperopolis.

“In addition to the wine, music and food, all guests will be treated to an amazing tour of Historic Copperopolis via a free shuttle,” says Kim Hamilton, Director of Marketing for Castle & Cooke California, Inc. “The 20-minute tour will visit historic sites including the Armory, Cannon, Old Church and Copper Mine, and feature an exciting encounter with Black Bart, the most notorious train robber of his day.”
