What’s Happening In Murphys This Week ~ January 10th Through January 18th

Murphys, CA...Planning to spend a Saturday shopping in Murphys or want to take a cooking class, try out the new Saturday Hopper bus service running between Valley Springs and Murphys. Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. January 10, 2017 DIM SUM II at the Marisolio Tasting Bar – Get ready for Chinese New Year on January 28th. We will provide Hot and Sour Soup (pre-made) and your hands-on work will prepare the rest. The complete menu: Hot and Sour Soup (pre-made) Seafood Stuffed Bell Peppers (Ha Yu Yeung Lot Jiu) Pot Stickers (Kuo Teh) and Steamed Meat Dumplings (Siu Mai). Mary will also show us how to make some wonderful dipping sauces using our Roasted Sesame Oil, Honey Ginger Balsamic and the Pineapple Balsamic. Don't miss this kick-off to our 2017 Year of Cooking. January 12, 2017 – Wines of the World - Join Michael Stange of Metate Vineyards for a journey thru Spain as we sample sultry to robust Spanish wines and imported Spanish tapas that will lure you into the romance and seduction of the Spanish region and its colorful winemaking history! Tickets are $20 for Members and $25 for non-members. Tickets Sold at the door. Advance Registration PREFERRED. Guests are welcomed to dine at the hotel afterward with a $5 discount on each entrée. January 14, 2017 – Barrel Room Bash at Milliaire - Join Milliaire for our Barrel Room Bash series! Our summer Locals' Night series was such a success, we've decided to keep the fun going with a winter concert series at the Milliaire Winery barrel room, just 3 miles outside of downtown Murphys! Enjoy live music, local food and half price on select bottles of wine. If we're lucky, we might be able to convince Steve Millier to pop open a barrel or two for an extra special barrel tasting! The one and only JILL WARREN will be kicking off our Barrel Room Bash series on Saturday, January 14th. Follow us on Facebook @MilliaireWinery to discover what delicious local foodvendor will be joining us for our first bash! Music begins at 6PM. FREE ADMISSION.

January 14, 2017 – Guided Hikes in Big Trees State Park - North Grove Guided Tours – Guided walks of the North Grove are held on Saturday at 1 pm. The walk is 1.5 to 2 hours. Meet in front of the Visitor Center. Bring water and your comfortable shoes. Visit bigtrees.org/ for more information.

January 15, 2017 – Pancake Breakfast – The Native Sons of the Golden West will serve an All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast at the Native Sons Hall from 7:30 to 11:30 am. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, coffee and hot chocolate will be served. The breakfast is served on the third Sunday of each month. Save the Date – March 18, 2017 – The 25th Annual Murphys Irish Day - Each year on the third Saturday in March, Murphys shuts down Main Street and prepares to celebrate like only the Irish can. Join us for a parade at 11 am, stay to eat, taste and shop the Irish Day booths, local tasting rooms and stores of Murphys, buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win our famous trip to Ireland and enjoy day long live music, dancing and Celtic entertainment on our two stages. Event opens at 10 am and you'll want get here early to grab a good spot to watch the parade. Free parking will be available at Ironstone Vineyards with a free shuttle to town from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Paid parking will be available at the corner of Big Trees & Main, weather allowing. Accessible parking will be available behind Alchemy and the Arbors Shopping Center. Main Street will be closed to traffic from 6 am to 6 pm. Start your day with a Pancake breakfast at the First Congregational Church and end it with dinner at one of
Murphys great restaurants.
