In 1999, Deputy Lyons became the School and Community Resource Officer for Groveland, Tenaya Elementary and Tioga High School. He has always had a great connection with children. He taught ROP Law Enforcement at Summerville High School and coached many local teams.

In 2003, he was promoted to Corporal and a year later he served as the Civil -Coroner Deputy. In 2010 he became the Search and Rescue Coordinator and the Community Service Coordinator. He also worked closely with the Office of Emergency Services and provided training in a Search Management Course. Deputy Lyons also held the position of the Crime Prevention Deputy.

He has worn many hats while working for the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, and we are proud of the work that he has done. Deputy Lyons has been an integral part of our office and does his job with dedication, kindness, compassion and heart. His 26 year tenure is a testament to his passion for his job and the community. We extend a heartfelt thanks and appreciation to him for his dedicated service to the residents of our county and the friendship we have grown throughout the years. We are sorry to see him go, but wish him the very best in his retirement and future endeavors.
