A Letter To The Editor In Regards To Sarah Palin~ By R Douglas Nunes

Arnold, CA...Letter To The Editor- I was disappointed when Trump won the election, I felt we had no “good” choices but Trump seemed the worst. Now he is proving that he is not competent to be President, by his choices for cabinet seats.

soapbox7

He chose a banker known for foreclosing on family loans for Treasury Secretary.

Now he is considering Sarah Palin for Secretary of the Department of Veteran Affairs. He could not have considered a least competent person or a dumber one.

With all the retired military Generals he had supporting him; there must be a leader there with veteran experience and better knowledge of what disabled veterans need in the VA.

A Palin choice reveals a total disregard for our veterans who look to the VA for medical attention. Palin has no connection to this important position or the veterans using the facilities. She is only a Political Cheerleader for Donald Trump..

Trump should look for a better candidate; a disabled veteran. We have 100s of thousands of them, to choose from.

Consideration of Palin is disappointing but not surprising. Trump has shown from the beginning that he does not believe knowledge is important to leadership. He's made no effort to educate himself on national security or any other subject that is now important to his success. Palin's lack of relevant knowledge will thus not disqualify her in Trump's view. Trump does value loyalty and believes in rewarding it; Palin passes that test.

I will say that of Trump's disappointing choices, this one concerns me less than others. If Palin screws up, then she will be heavily criticized by the press, which supports veterans on both the left and the right. Trump will be forced to replace her. So even if she screws up, I think it is unlikely that she will last long enough to do real damage. A greater threat is probably a possible Republican effort to disband the VA hospital system and replace it with private care. Costs would be much, much higher with a privatized system and that would be a budget buster given the long-term disabilities coming out of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

The nomination I am most worried about is Sect'y of State. Romney would be fine but Giuliani is far too unhinged to be put in charge of such a serious part of the administration. This is one where we have to hope competence trumps loyalty, which is not the Trump model. Unlike veterans affairs, a Sect'y of State can do real damage very quickly.

Nominating Palin would be an insult to veterans, but that may be exactly Stump's intent. Draft dodgers can't be expected to understand what vets face when dealing with the VA.

So the draft dodgers were wrong?
      How'd Viet Nam turn out?
Were the draft dodgers right after all? Did the US gain anything from Viet Nam?

Afghanistan $3 Trillion spent America's longest war, the Taliban is almost in total control. Dump will end the war, to start another one.

      Iraq - what was gained?

It's time to stop these wars for profits, and admit nothing is gained, but $ for war profiteers at a horrible cost to families of all in the war zone.

What concerns me as well as what the above posts is how staunch die hard Republicans still believe in Chump, all campaign promises out the window, no insiders in my administration and Romney or should we now all address him as Mr. Duplistic. Agreed both sides of the fence didn't have green grass I believe time won't tell, we're f@#$%d.
I,m a veteran who opts to pay Medicare in lieu of the V.A. because my retirement benefits are more than ample, but I know numerous brothers who also served in Vietnam are hurting with the VA sytem

It takes all kinds to make our country interesting and functional. Don't give me that flag waving baloney-REAL patriots stand and fight, they don't piss and moan on the the pinetree.net about draft dodgers, for God's sake.

Palin @ DOI

Palin would be a good choice at the Dept of Interior. As Governor of Alaska she is experienced in battling the ideological bureaucratic kooks in DOI that are dedicated to locking up this nation's vast natural resources. That or Sec of Ag so someone with a normal mind can run the Forest Circus.

Plus it would drive the Green Meanies wild. They thrown up more steam than Old Faithful and just as regularly.

Anyone who does not believe and support freedom of religious belief and practices is not an American and does not belong in this country. You don't have to like what everyone does, but if it does not cause you or others personal harm, it is a right of the individual as guaranteed by our Constitution.
If you can't support the laws of our land, you should move to a place where freedoms are restricted so you fit in.

Trump Activities and Appointments
Posted on: 2016-12-02 10:02:21   By: Anonymous

If nothing else, The Donald is providing SNL and political cartoonists lots of material. Enjoy it!
Hopefully he does not find a way to ban political satire. We all know he doesn't like anyone or anything that speaks out against him. One of his appointees has even come out and stated publicly that any action against them (like withdrawing advertising from their newspaper . . . you guess who this is) is un-American.
