Beth Childs/Genna Hurst Scholarship Awarded by Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF)

San Andreas, CA...The Beth E. Childs/ Genna Hurst Renewable Scholarship administered by the Calaveras Community Foundation was presented during the Awards night at Calaveras High School in early June. The 2016 scholarship committee selected Kelly Baird as the recipient. Kelly, an ambitious young woman with a 4.306 GPA, is the daughter of proud parents, Hope and Richard Baird of West Point. Kelly will attend UC Berkeley where she will enroll as a undeclared Social Science major. Kelly has varied interests one of which is history. As stated in her application, “College is a place where I plan to explore, grow and learn. I want to make a difference in the world, and help people by helping them understand themselves.”

This includes planning the prom in a student leadership role, Honor Roll all 4 years, Honors French Society, Student Site Council, school drama productions, 13-year member of Girl Scouts, and President of West Point 4-H.

Kelly states: “Receiving this scholarship has meant so much to me, and I am very honored to call myself a recipient. It has empowered me to go out and change the world and means that I can accept the gift of education the world has given me.”

The Childs/Hurst scholarship is a 4-year $4,000 renewable scholarship awarded annually to a graduating student residing in the West Point/ Wilseyville area.

Now go forth, continue your education and change the world.
It's young women, and men, like you who will be our future movers and shakers!

Not likely considering she is interested in the social sciences. She'll probably just end up as another over emotional social justice zealot complaining that there aren't enough restrooms for every made up gender she can come up with.

Well done, young lady. I wish you the best as you continue to study and carve out your place life. UC Berkeley is a terrific place to do that. Congratulations.
