A Note From Calaveras County Supervisor Steve Kearney, District 5

Rancho Calaveras, CA...I have been presented with a Notice of Intent to Recall my seat as a Calaveras County Supervisor. This action is being brought by a small group of ‘elites’ that feel the ‘wants and wishes’ of a select few should outweigh the ‘needs and wishes’ of the many in Calaveras County. The basis for their claim is not factual and is completely inaccurate (details below). This group is not new and has a long history of inflicting ‘economic terrorism’ against the people of Calaveras County which has resulted in keeping Calaveras County one of the poorest in the state, which is a distinction I want to change for the better. During my election it was no secret that I stood for jobs and economic growth for Calaveras County. I welcome the opportunity to reaffirm my commitment to bringing quality growth and economic prosperity to all. I encourage all of you to join me in rejecting the anti-job movement and let’s make Calaveras County economically healthy for our children and grandchildren.

The claim(s): This group is claiming two items/issues.

1) Olive Orchard Estates. The claim is that the Planning Commission and the Supervisors removed the required off-site improvements. What they are not telling you is that the Planning Commission and Supervisors did so only after Cal Trans formally removed the requirements to the project.

2) Asphalt Plant. The claim is that the Planning Commission and Supervisors approved the plant without requiring environmental study. This claim is completely untrue. The most recent approval of the Asphalt Plant was a vote to uphold that CEQA is to be completed before the ‘Authority to Construct’ Permit is issued. Additionally, it’s important to point out that the Counties own study and expert indicated no significant impacts on this project.

Steve Kearney, Calaveras County Supervisor D-5

Sounds like Marti Crane and/or her gal pals MyValleySprings. They say NO to everything. Mr. Kearney is a hard working honest guy.

These are the no growth people that file appeals with the county against seemingly everything, costing the county money and jobs, they are the liberals, they preach tolerance and forgiveness, until you disagree with them.

If you're one of the hypocritical clowns crying about the lack of growth or opportunity here, but bemoaning the cannabis industry for moving in and setting up shop, then you too must label yourself as part of the 'no growth' problem here the county.

      This is a fact.

Good luck to your kids at Davis. Personally, my hope is that if MaryJane is legalized Phillip Morris will start farming it somewhere in 1,000 acre plots, saturating the market, and then all the smelly hippies that have invaded our County will be left wondering what to do with their new property that they paid a s---tload of money for. Think about that before you spend mega $$ sending your kids to Davis.

Can anyone show us why we need jobs and growth? Steve and Cliff say we will have to close up if we don't grow? If you look at the population and public service we have done fine without growth. All the small towns have done fine and if the county were more economically responsible they wouldn't be scrambling around trying to find grants. We don't need a bus system, sidewalks in Rancho and a cafeteria at $.5 Mill remodel to change out a room to a cook station at Toyon or the new Preforming arts shrine at CHS.
As far as Kearney goes he is being recalled because he took money from several "Out of county" donors and then after he got elected he tried to bypass the regulations put forth by the same Calaveras County to fast track a project for them. He refused to discuss it with the voters, but not the donors, so we all signed the recall. Can anyone think of a better reason.

Mr Kearney wants to make a safe prosperous county for our children but yet he voted to allow us to become a pot growing county and bring crime and torment to many, many citizens of Calaveras. Don't think I can believe he has our best interest at heart.

I suppose we should be grateful it was only an asphalt plant and not a nuclear waste dump. Our planning commission and BOS would probably approve the dump too because, you know, they are pro-growth. And as good ol' Al would tell us, a property owner should be able to do whatever they want on their property, even if it annihilates his neighbor's property value.

Nobody is talking about Kearney vote to not mandate a Conditional Use Permit from the Asphalt plant people. Heavy toxic chemicals are used in all their process

They made a bad decision about the asphalt plant...I wonder what promises were made along with the multiple 'ata boy/gal handshakes.

It's really dangerous! How could the Supervisor's approve such a thing? Don't they see all the Cal Trans guys and road crews? They have to wear respirators and contamination gear when paving roadways. It's so scary when I have to stop and they are paving and repairing the roads. Seriously! Give me a break!!! We need this industry in more ways than one. JOBS! TAXES! Better access to asphalt, for jobs in our County! George Reed has a monopoly around us! Amador County, and Tuolumne County. But, here sits Calaveras County! No industry! Let's all join together and support Supervisor Kearney and be heard one last time.! You people that cost us thousands in appeal fees for every project! We are done letting you control us.
Watch the Videos of hearings! There is a group of individuals that fight everything in this county! The faces never change. I believe the Voter's spoke in the last election! They are done with this group controlling their county! I am proud of the decisions made and I believe the voters will uphold the job the Supervisor Kearney is doing!!! You have my vote! As well as my neighbors! Thank you for a job well DONE!!

Nobody is talking about the studies that were done either!
That said "no significant impacts. Nobody is taking about the fact the are doing a study on air quality before construction. The supervisors did their job.
Nobody is taking about the testimony by specialist. They proved it to be safe. Nobody is talking about watching the hearings. Get educated please!

Published stories made it clear the "studies" were superficial and more should have been done to assure public safety. But this "vigorous denial" in which he calls people names does not mention that, or any other pertinent facts. Do your homework folks.

Well there's no kind of Nuclear waste in Nevada. I have some acreage there if you're really interested, and no electricity needed, everything at night just kinda glows. It's got it's own Aurora Borealis, you'll love it.

Pitt Bulls are amazing. They infact as great guard dogs because people like you think they are oh so terrifying, so they won't come onto my property. I love it cause if they knew what sweethearts the dogs were my possessions would be screwed. They would let you come take the Tv....
Yet my neighbors likely think we have guard dogs crazy pit bulls barking at people in in reality most people have dogs that bark at people they don't know..I'm more terrified of a chihuahua or Queensland heeler then I will ever be of a Pitt... get your heads out of your asses. Stop judging my breed!!!!! I was raised with Pitts and so are my daughters... we are your everyday middle-class white hard working people. Get the media out of your ass and find the truth. Judge the owners not the breed. I LOVE PITT BULLS and that DOES NOT make me or my family bad people
