La Grange Rodeo Sunday March 29, 2015
La Grange, CA...Want to have a real small town, down home Western experience? The La Grange Rodeo Sunday March 29th is for you. It's a full day, with slack roping and riding events starting 8 AM Sunday morning. Get there around noon to see the Rodeo Queen crowning ceremony. Best be in your seats before 1 PM when the Grand Entry begins at the La Grange Rodeo Arena, overlooking the Tuolumne River canyon, east of town on Hwy 132. You'll see bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, team roping and calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, and of course the rodeo clowns. Then there's the goat scramble for kids 8 and under. Catch the goat and you keep it! You'll find plenty of food and refreshments to sample and lots of Cowboy and Cowgirl gear to help you put on the style...
Don't miss it! Tickets are $15 at the gate, $10 for kids 6-12, 5 and
under are free. You can get pre-sale tickets for $12 from one of the
Queen candidates, or at many local businesses. Call Jean Castagne (209)
765-7535 or Les Weidman 541-7966 for information.
The earliest rodeo of the season, the La Grange Rodeo is also one of the
oldest. In 1948 local ranchers organized the first one as part of the
Centennial celebration for La Grange, Gold Rush town turned cow town.
Things are lively in down town La Grange rodeo weekend. Louie's Place
Saloon and Grill is always your best bet for down-home vittles, libations
and real Western atmosphere. The La Grange Museum is open Sunday
afternoon as well.
Check http://LaGrangeRodeoAssociation.com for more information and
pictures. It all happens in La Grange, on Hwy 132, 24 miles west of
Coulterville, 30 miles east of Modesto, just east of Hwy J-59.
