Classical Guitarists Perform at Ovations Series on February 8, 2015
Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Arts Council’s third show for the Ovations 2015 Performing Arts Series brings The Pacific Guitar Ensemble, to Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center located at Bret Harte High School, 323 Highway 49, in Angels Camp on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 3:00pm.
An immediate hit with its audiences, the Pacific Guitar Ensemble was founded in 2010 by classical guitarist David Tanenbaum and steel string guitarist Peppino D’Agostino: a mixed guitar ensemble able to perform a wide variety of repertoire. Made up of faculty members of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and its most exceptional alumni the Pacific Guitar Ensemble brings together a wide array of guitars and plucked instruments: nylon strings, steel, electric basses, oud and 17th century theorbos. Their repertoire ranges from arrangements of Bach, Brahms, Dowland and Rossini to original music by Sergio Assad, minimalist Belinda Reynolds, and D’Agostino. These guitarists meet to play for and with each other, learning, copying, sharing and competing. The Pacific Guitar Ensemble is dedicated to this dynamic process. Bret Harte High School theater manager David Duggan said that he has not heard the ensemble but he has seen and heard David Tanenbaum perform. Duggan said Tanenbaum’s performance was fantastic and no doubt the ensemble will be beyond awesome.
Adult tickets are $25 each and Youth 18 years and younger are $10 each. Order your tickets by going on-line to www.calaverasarts.org or by calling (209) 754-1774.
