Sierra Hills & Plan B Headline August First Friday. Chains Required To Finish Summer Season In Sept

Murphys, CA....At August's "First Friday" Sierra Hills Market catered the event and Plan B had em on their feet and dancing in Murphys Community Park. The events have become another of our local summer traditions that are helped along by the Murphys Community Club. In September Chains Required, a 10-piece rhythm and blues band based in Sonora, will be the featured band when this year’s final First Fridays in the Park event, put on by the Murphys Community Club, is staged September 5, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park....

The popular group is composed of top‐tier local musicians who really enjoy entertaining with tunes spanning from the 60’s to the present. Central to the band is a four-piece horn section with rhythm accompaniment and two featured singers. They were twice named best local band by the Sierra Lodestar.

From June to September, the First Friday in the Park series features a performance by a popular musical group starting at 5:30 p.m. From 5 p.m., a special dinner is available for purchase at $10.00 per person and an excellent local wine is for sale along with other beverages. This month’s menu from Murphys Catering will consist of baked cheesy pasta with sausage, tomatoes and spinach, green salad with seasonal vegetables, bread and butter, brownie or blondie. The wine will be from Renner Winery.

Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a small town America happening. There is no admission charge and ample free parking is available nearby. Free-will donations to help maintain the park are always gratefully received.

The Murphys Community Club is celebrating its 66th year of providing services and programs for the greater Murphys area. Its prime responsibility is the management and maintenance of the beautiful Murphys Community Park.

This is the eighth year the club has presented First Fridays in the Park. These summertime events continue to grow in popularity and have become a Mother Lode cherished tradition.

Murphys Community Park is located on Algiers St. in historic downtown Murphys. Membership in the Murphys Community Club is open to everyone and contributions are tax deductible. For further information log onto VisitMurphys.com or call 728-8183.
