Arts of Bear Valley- 13th Annual Art Show at Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Big Trees, Ca...Members of Arts of Bear Valley are busy preparing for their upcoming art show and sale at Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The painting and photography show opens Tuesday, August 12th, and closes Monday, September 1st. The hours will be from 10 AM to 5 PM daily. In addition to original paintings, giclee prints, photography and note cards will be on display for purchase. The park has seen many exciting changes over the past year and in keeping with the new look and upgraded facilities, Arts of Bear Valley will present its show in the brand new classroom, which is prat of the Education Building. Although smaller, than its previous location, Jack Knight Hall, the new space has superior lighting and is highly visible to park visitiors and promises to be an outstanding venue for the show. There will be another significant change this year. Only subject matter found in Calaveras Big Trees State Park will be accepted into the show. At first, this seemed to be a daunting task for the group. After researching the vast amount of flora and fauna, colorful history and outstanding scenery which encompass the many acres of the park; they took on the challenge and are creating an impressive array of beautiful original work for the show....

Nancy Calhoun's painting titled, "Let's Go Visit"

The show will be tended by participating artists each day, who will be happy to answer questions about the displayed art and artists. In honor of the Park's 150th Anniversary, Arts of Bear Valley is working closely with the Park to assure that the show promises to enhance visitor's Park experience and offer a unique viewpoint for artistic creations.
In cooperation with the Calaveras Big Trees Association, a raffle of Artwork will take place again this year. Raffle tickets will be available on site. There are four beautiful pieces of Artwork available and the drawing will be held at 2 PM on Monday, September 1st, and you need not be present to win. Artists who are donating an original painting this year are Nancy Calhoun, whose piece titled, "Let's Go Visit" was chosen as the poster art for this year. The other three artists are Ruth Morrow, with the "Stand in Big Trees", Ann Nancy Macomber with a painting titled, "Undercover" a cute rendition of a raccoon; and Helen Scofield , with a lovely painting titled "Up Country.
In addition to the Art Show. AOBV members will be helping again this year, with Family Day in the Park, by having a craft table with activities for children. Family day is Saturday, August 16th from 10AM to 4PM, it is held by the CBTA to show appreciation for Public Support of the park. It is truly a fun day for all.
There is a $10.00 per car entry fee at the gate, however, admission to the Art show is Free.
