June 11 through June 19

Save the Date - June 20-22, 2014 - Behind the Bottle Weekend - The week-end kicks-
off on Friday night with a concert in Murphys Park, the heart of Calaveras County. Bring a folding chair and a couple of blankets to settle in for a night of swing music by the band Swing Gitane. Wines by the glass and food will be available for purchase. No ticket required....Spend the weekend chatting with your favorite winery staff while sampling their latest releases, or attend a wine appreciation, wine making, wine blending, food pairing, cheese or charcuterie workshop. June Artist Showing at Art on Main - The "Featured Artist of the Month" for June is Janet Alcalde. Jan is both a photographer and watercolor artist.. Art on Main also welcomes a new artist this month, Marta Magistrali of Jamestown, who will be displaying her clever and unique clay sculptures at Art on Main.

Tuesdays at Tortuga - Salsa and Latin Dancing - Shake your groove thang! Come on in and join us for fun Salsa and Latin dancing, drinks, and limited menu from 6-8 pm. Visit Tortuga online for more information.

Thursdays at Outer Aisles - Farmers & Artisans Craft Market - The Murphys Farmers and Artisan Crafts Market will be held each Thursday in the Outer Aisle‘s parking lot from 4 pm until dusk. The Market features local produce, baked goods, grass fed meats, artisan crafts and local music. Find out about their monthly tasting tours where you can get the inside scoop on the farm and the local ecosystem. Stop by and enjoy dinner or just browse the Farmers Market. Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups.

June 12, 2014 - Wines of the World at the Murphys Historic Hotel - Join us for Wines of the World starting at 530 pm located in the outdoor Rose Garden area. Judy Creighton will be pouring California State Fair Gold Medal Award Winners paired with Beautiful Cheese for the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance. Call 209-728-9467 for more

June 13, 2014 - First Fridays in the Park - The summer's series kicks off on the second Friday (to avoid conflicts with graduation) with Bill Welles at 5:30 pm performing Roots Americana music in Murphys Community Park. During the series, the food hut will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. At each of these programs a specially prepared dinner, with an entree and appropriate side dishes, will be available for purchase. Local wines, along with soda and water, will be available to purchase. Val du Vino winery will cater the meal and have their award-winning wines for sale. There is no admission charge. The concert series in sponsored by the Murphys Community Club.

June 13, 2014 - Plan B at the Murphys Historic Hotel - Friday the 13th means Plan B will be playing in the saloon from 9:30-12:30.

June 13-July 19, 2014 - Murphys Creek Theatre presents Twelfth Night at Brice Station Vineyards - Director Tara Kayton is setting this summer’s production of Twelfth Night, one of Shakespeare’s finest comedies, in the1930 American Dust Bowl. Using a vagabond troupe of actors, steamer trunks, and an old truck the group will create a world in and around the audience that will be both interactive and intimate. House opens 1.5 hours before the show for patrons to lay out blankets and chairs to enjoy food and wine. Brice Station will sell wine during each performance and catered meals may be available for pre-purchase at some performances. Performances on varying Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; please check Murphys Creek Theatre’s website at murphyscreektheatre.org for updates and information.
