Soldier Stature By Artist John Kobald Unveiled At Memorial Day Ceremony
Murphys, CA...It was a fortuitous meeting when members of the Kautz family met artist and sculptor John Kobald when traveling. He became the sculptor to deliver the centerpiece of an incredible gift to the Ebbetts Pass Veterans District's Veterans Memorial and the community. The artist is pictured below the full sized, larger than life, bronze stature unveiled this morning. The Kautz Family underwrote the costs of the expansion improvements at veteran's memorial. We will have full video and many photos from today's event posted later today...
Sculptor John Kobald With His Beautful Creation In Murphys This Morning.
About John
At an early age, John was taught by his parents how to observe nature and translate it into an art form. He started creating with the guidance of his father Ray, who is a widely respected artist. John received a BFA in sculpture from Northern Illinois University.
Through bronze and wood sculptures John captures his patient and discerning observations of wildlife. The environment, inherent to the animal’s identity, is suggested with a simple gesture. John’s fascination with the dramatic presence of wildlife will forever influence his artwork.
His travels throughout North and Central America and New Zealand have provided him many research opportunities. Water color paintings express the varied environments of his travels, including the rivers of the Rocky Mountains, the colorful aquatic life of the oceans and the moods of the changing seasons.
John currently resides in northwest Colorado.
