NCAA America Sky Championship To Be Contested At Greenhorn Creek Golf Club
Angels Camp, CA......NCAA Division 1 golf will contest its first-ever tournament at Greenhorn Creek GC with the America Sky Championship, April 25-27, 2014. Seven college teams from around the country belonging to the Great West Conference will compete in the three-day event. Leading the charge is host Sacramento State, which won this event in 2012. They will be swinging against teams from Binghamton (NY); North Dakota; Northern Colorado; Southern Utah; Weber State (UT); and Hartford (CT), led by last year’s America Sky Rookie of the Year, Evan Russell....
"Greenhorn Creek has always been known as a challenging course but has never had the length to entice the collegiate events,” says Allan Ramorini, PGA Head Professional at Greenhorn Creek. “This year, in addition to some bunker renovations, we have added a new tee box and lengthened our par-5, 7th hole by 54 yards that now stretches the course to over 6,800 yards.”
The public is invited for free to come witness these young players in action. As an added bonus, anyone attending on Sunday will also have the opportunity to enjoy the 8th Annual Taste of Calaveras, a food, wine, and art experience at CAMPS Restaurant overlooking the golf course.
This event takes place from 12:00-4:00PM and your $40 ticket ($50 at the door) includes a commemorative wine glass, food, live/silent auctions and wine tastings from many of the 30-plus wineries in Calaveras County and entertainment.
