What’s Happening in Murphys this Week March 18 through March 28 17th

Murphys, CA...17th Annual Spring Obsession Art Show at Ironstone Vineyards - Join us for our 17th Annual Spring Obsession Art Show, 10 am to closing daily until Mothers Day Weekend. Come and enjoy fabulous art created by talented local artists. It Pays to Shop (and Taste) Local - The Ironstone Heritage Museum, Marisolio Tasting Bar and Creative Cookware each offer discounts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays while, on Wednesdays, Tea an' Tiques offers Calaveras residents & seniors a discount on the purchase of any box or tin of TEA.. Twisted Oak offers complimentary wine tastings on Tuesdays. Restrictions apply but make sure to let them know you're a local when you're out supporting our local businesses.



March Artist Showing at Hovey Tasting Room - The award-winning watercolor paintings of Bambi Papais will be showcased the month of March at Hovey Winery Tasting Room, 350 A Main St., Murphys. An artist’s reception in her honor will be held Sunday, March 2 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with complimentary appetizers and wine available by the glass for $5.The tasting room is open daily from noon to 5:30 p.m.

March Artist Showing at Art on Main - The "Featured Artist of the Month" for March is Duane Papais. Duane is known for his very creative graphic art posters, including the San Francisco Giants; the San Francisco 49er's; and, locally, the many historic business storefronts along Main Street in Murphys.

Tuesdays in Murphys - Winemakers Night at Alchemy - every Tuesday night from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Enjoy a featured wine and a great meal. As always, there is live music on the patio from 5:30-8 pm. Call 209.728.0700 for reservations.

Fridays & Saturdays in Murphys - Local Food & Wine Tours - Join Murphys Food and Wine Tours every Friday and Saturday from 11:00am to 2:30 pm. Each tour is approximately three and a half hours. You’ll get the inside story about the area’s rough-and-tumble past. Purchase tickets online by visiting Local-Food-Tours.com or by calling 800-407-8918 directly. Fridays and Saturdays at Zucca Tasting Room - "Zucca After Hours" is open 5-8 pm. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a glass of wine on a Friday or Saturday night, the Zucca garden is your place. All those firepits are even better to sit by on a cool winter evening. If the weather is just too yucky, we've got some nice bar seating in the Toscano room. And we always welcome your picnic items or takeout from area restaurants should you want to make a night of it."

Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups.

March 21st - Rumors at the Black Bart Theatre - Opening March 21st at the Black Bart Playhouse in Murphys will be Neil Simon’s hilarious farce, “Rumors” directed by Graham Scott Green. “Rumors” will run through April 19th at the Black Bart Playhouse. March 22, 2014 - Ping Pong and Tennis Tournament - Ping-Pong and tennis enthusiasts will share the spotlight when the Murphys Area Community Tennis Association (MACTA) stages a double-barreled event at the group’s Wintercreek Facility and the adjacent Lions Club Hall behind the historic schoolhouse on Jones Street on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. A Ping-Pong tournament, open to everyone, will take place in the Lions Club Hall. A doubles round robin will be held in the morning with a singles, double elimination in the afternoon. The MACTA Ladies Invitational Tournament will be happening concurrently and spectators are welcome.
March 25, 2014, Sandwiches from Around the World Cooking Class, 10:00 AM or 6:00 PM. The Sandwich is one of History's great inventions. A savory filling encased on both sides by some type of bread or bread like wrapping, the varieties of sandwiches are infinite. See how countries around the world have adapted this portable meal. We plan to demonstrate Chilean Pork Sandwiches, Trinidad Chickpea Sandwiches, Pan Bagnat, Malaysian Omelette Sandwiches, and Fluffermutter for dessert.
