What’s Happening in Murphys this Week....Irish Day Of Course And Much More

Murphys, CA...Each year on the third Saturday in March, Murphys shuts down Main Street and prepares to celebrate like only the Irish can. Join us for a parade at 11 am, stay to eat, taste and shop the Irish Day booths, local tasting rooms and shops of Murphys, buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win our famous trip to Ireland, enjoy music, dancing and Celtic entertainment on our two stages and wrap the day up with dinner at one of our restaurants. We are expecting 100+ vendors offering food, hand crafted and celtic themed items so plan on spending some time strolling the streets. Take the little ones over to the monument to ride the ponies or hang out in front of one of our stages enjoying the music and dancing. Watch for the bagpipers and our stilt walker performing on the streets. The event runs from 10 am to 5 pm and you’ll want to get here early to grab a good spot to watch the parade...

Free parking will be available at Ironstone Vineyards with a free shuttle to town from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Paid parking will be available at the corner of Big Trees & Main, weather allowing. Accessible parking will be available behind Alchemy and the Arbors Shopping Center. Main Street will be closed to traffic from 6 am to 6 pm so plan accordingly and please be considerate of the neighbors and make sure to keep their driveways open.

Enjoy a pancake breakfast at the First Congregational Church from 8 am to 10:30 am. Take the shuttle out to Ironstone to admire the displays at the Pacific Regional Daffodil Show or park at their beautiful grounds and take the shuttle into town for the day.

Need a break from the crowds….walk down to our lovely community park on the creek and let the kids play in the playground while you enjoy a few minutes of quiet.

Walk on down to the Black Bart Playhouse to enjoy the Sierra Nevada Film Festival starting at 5 pm.

Sunday morning you can join the locals at the Native Sons Hall for an all you can eat pancake breakfast from 7:30 am to 11:30 am. Or enjoy a treat or breakfast at one of our local eateries and spend the day shopping our streets and tasting at the wineries and tasting bars.

One last reminder, please bring only very well socialized dogs as the weather is supposed to be beautiful and the streets are likely to be crowded with people, kids in tow and in strollers and wandering entertainers which can be stressful for any dog. And please don’t leave your pets locked in your car for the day; we want you all to arrive home happy and healthy at the end of the day.
