What’s Happening in Murphys this Week February 27 through March 7

Murphys, CA...Mark your calendar now for Irish Day in Murphys, March 15 - Each year on the third Saturday in March, Murphys shuts down Main Street and prepares to celebrate like only the Irish can. Join us for a parade at 11 am, stay to eat, taste and shop the Irish Day booths, local tasting rooms and stores of Murphys, buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win our famous trip to Ireland, enjoy music, dancing and Celtic entertainment on our two stages and wrap the day up with dinner at one of our restaurants. 10 am to 5 pm - get here early to grab a good spot to watch the parade. Main Street will be closed to traffic from 6 am to 6 pm. You can purchase raffle tickets now at many locations in town...just look for the raffle poster..

Cheers to A Wine Camp for Adults - Send the kids to Soccer Camp then join us at Wine Camp where you will learn everything about wine, from the vine to the bottle. Meet and learn from 9 Calaveras County wine makers. Three breakfast and lunches, plus 2 wine dinners and a souvenir case of wine per couple are included. You will stay at the brand new Courtwood Inn, Murphys Ca. during your 4 day/3 night wine camp from June 16-19 or July 14-17. Registration information for Mr Frogs Wild Ride is now available at http://www.mrfrogswildride.org/. The price includes snacks at various rest stops, SAG support and the after-ride barbecue. A free massage will be available. Beginning April 5, registration increases $5. Club discounts are available on request for six or more registrations at the same time. Wine Down Friday @ Stevenot - Each first Friday of each month from 5-8 pm Stevenot hosts "Wine Down Friday" in the Tasting Room on Main St. Murphys. This is an opportunity to meet the owners and staff while enjoying Stevenot Wines by the glass, party platters, and live music. Call 209-728-3485 for more information.

February at Art on Main - Stop by to admire the work of our new artists, Dick Bradford and Marlene Bradford (local wood turner and clay artist). We also welcome new artists Steve and Therese May who create beautiful, wearable fiber art.

March Artist Showing at Hovey Tasting Room - The award-winning watercolor paintings of Bambi Papais will be showcased the month of March at Hovey Winery Tasting Room, 350 A Main St., Murphys. An artist’s reception in her honor will be held Sunday, March 2 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with complimentary appetizers and wine available by the glass for $5.The tasting room is open daily from noon to 5:30 p.m. The watercolor paintings of Deborah Marlene will continue to be on display until March 1st.

Tuesdays in Murphys - Winemakers Night at Alchemy - every Tuesday night from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Enjoy a featured wine and a great meal. As always, there is live music on the patio from 5:30-8 pm. Call 209.728.0700 for reservations.

Thursdays in Murphys - Romantic Dinners for Two with Live Music at Angelos Steakhouse Italiano. Nicholas Lefler plays on Thursdays from 7-9 pm. Call 209-728-9200 for more information.

Fridays & Saturdays in Murphys - Local Food & Wine Tours - Join
Murphys Food and Wine Tours every Friday and Saturday from 11:00am to 2:30 pm. Each tour is approximately three and a half hours. You’ll get the inside story about the area’s rough-and-tumble past. Fridays at Alchemy - Matt Cullen delivers style with pop, country and jazz vocal performances every Friday on the patio from 5:30-8 pm. The music is free, and there's room to dance. Call 209-728-0700 or visit www.mattcullenonline.com for more information.

Fridays and Saturdays at Zucca Tasting Room - "Zucca After Hours" is open 5-8 pm. If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a glass of wine on a Friday or Saturday night, the Zucca garden is your place. All those firepits are even better to sit by on a cool winter evening. If the weather is just too yucky, we've got some nice bar seating in the Toscano room. And we always welcome your picnic items or takeout from area restaurants should you want to make a night of it."

Saturdays in Murphys - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge (donations gratefully accepted) on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum. Please contact Jo Sanders at 209-728-3072 to confirm dates and times or make arrangements for large groups.

March 7, 2014 - Big Band Night in Murphys - The Murphys Senior Center invites you to join them for a night of music and dancing from 5:30 to 9 pm. The night features a silent auction, no host bar and awesome appetizers. Call 209-728-1672 for reservations and information.
