Golf Tournament Benefits Free Mobile Clinic

Sonora, CA...Sonora Regional Medical Center’s 18th Annual Golf Classic will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis. All proceeds from the tournament go toward funding Sonora Regional Medical Center’s Project HOPE, a free mobile health clinic serving people in the community who typically do not have health insurance. The clinic is available twice a week at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Sonora and once a month at Interfaith....

“This year’s tournament is shaping up to be one of our best ever,” says Gail Witzlsteiner, Sonora Regional Medical Center Foundation executive director. “Many sponsors are stepping up early to lend their support to Project HOPE.” Witzlsteiner says that anyone interested in participating in the tournament by sponsoring or playing should contact her soon. “This is a very popular event, as players are guaranteed a great day for a great cause.”

The 2013 Golf Classic raised more than $63,500 for Project HOPE and included more than 156 golfers and 75 sponsors.

Back this year will be the popular Helicopter Ball Drop. Supporters can purchase numbered balls that will be dropped into the cup from a helicopter. The owner of the ball closest to or in the cup will win $1,000.

The 2014 Golf Classic organizing committee is chaired by Tuolumne County Sherriff Jim Mele, and includes the following local business and community leaders: Kathren Alexander, Katie Dunn, Larry Jobe, Elizabeth “E.J.” Jones, Bob Laukat, Jim Mele, Lisa Melville, Chuck Milazzo, Tom Nischwitz, Shirley Sarno, Joe Silva, Mark Steichen and Gail Witzlsteiner.

Businesses and individuals who would like to sponsor, play, donate and/or volunteer to work at the event should call Gail at Sonora Regional Medical Center’s Foundation Office at 536-5029.
