Korean War Veteran Roger Dale Nichols 1932 - 2014
Arnold, CA...Roger Dale Nichols was born July 16, 1932 in Greenville, Illinois to parents Fred and Elva Nichols. He moved to Southern California at the young age of 3.The family settled in Huntington Park. Roger passed away peacefully in his dome home in Arnold, California on January 23, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Elva Nichols, his brother, Gwyn “Junior” Nichols, and his oldest son & daughter-in-law, Stanley & Marylou Nichols.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy of 34 years, his sons from his previous marriage (Bette Grimes), Stephen & Kelli Nichols, David & Sandee Nichols, and also by his nephew, Randy & Joy Nichols.
Roger was a Korean War Veteran, and was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions during the war. He worked at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center for 25 years where he & Peggy met. He was one of the original Emergency Medical Technicians back in the day. When he retired he was a full time dispatcher. Roger was a lover of all animals, great and small.
Roger has a wonderful blended family, Grandson Stanley (Mandy) Nichols of Tennessee. Granddaughter Jennifer Nichols of Tennessee, Lisa McWhorter of Arizona, mother of Granddaughter Morgan (Manny) Alvarez of Texas, Grandson Christopher (Kammy) Nichols of Arizona. Cindy Nichols, mother of Granddaughter Samantha (Daniel) Zimmerman of Oregon, Grandson Adam Nichols of Oregon, and Granddaughter Bethany Nichols of Oregon.
At last count there were 6 great grandchildren!
Roger also leaves behind his extended family that includes: Dee Rourke,
Dan &Carol Rourke-Reilly& family, Kit Borden & family, Sharon & Art Flores & family, Diane & Sam Martlaro &family, Mary & Kevin Winnett & family, Susi Rourke-Vinod Singh &family, Mike & Toni Rourke & family, and MANY beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews that will miss their brother-in-law, Uncle and Grand Uncle very much.
