Murphys & Angels Camp, CA.... Bret Harte Little League
Bret Harte Little League’s mission is to provide a fun and safe environment for the children in the area to play baseball. The League’s purpose is to create an atmosphere in which our players learn the lessons that playing baseball can provide them. These include teamwork, discipline, fair play, meeting challenges and developing a greater sense of self esteem through accomplishments. Additionally, the League strives to foster an organized effort for our parent and adult volunteers so they can assist our players with their development in baseball and in the virtues of character, citizenship, courage and loyalty.

EPLL & CALL Merger

Why the Merger?

Recently, Ebbetts Pass Little League and Calaveras American Little League merged the two leagues into one. The new league is Bret Harte Little League. This was done for the following reasons;

• We want to create a greater sense of community in our new league. Ultimately, most of your children will end up at Bret Harte High School. Both Boards from the former Ebbetts Pass and Calaveras American Little Leagues believed that we should help foster a larger community perspective in our organization as a way to help the kids get to know each other. For this reason, the name Bret Harte was chosen as our league name as it represents the larger community that is our goal.

• The amount of time required to successfully run a youth sports organization is far more than most outside of the leagues can imagine. It is a 12 month a year task. Both little league’s, singularly, do not get enough parent participation as board members and other volunteer help for an entire 12 months. Together, we do. With this merger, we now have a 13 member board that is dedicated to providing the best league we can.

• Many of the tasks required were essentially being duplicated by both leagues where a single league could be more efficient.

• The board members of the former leagues have worked together through interleague play for several years and there was just a sense that we should be together as one. We were separated by two leagues and it didn’t make sense any longer.

While change sometimes comes with complications, Bret Harte Little League is committed to providing the best environment for your children to play baseball and our board members are solely dedicated to this task.
