Medical Center Employees Sharing Holiday Joy for Those Less Fortunate
Sonora, CA...Sonora Regional Medical Center employees donated over 10,500 pounds of food during their annual holiday food drive. This brings their total donation through the Medical Center’s Food for Families program to 12,665 pounds of food for 2013. Most of the food was distributed just in time for Thanksgiving through Interfaith, Adventist Community Services, Lighthouse Ministries at the Red Church and the ATCAA Food Bank...
The Medical Center has also coordinated Christmas Wishes, a gift drive which was kicked off at the Medical Center’s annual Christmas banquet on Tuesday, December 10. Employees have donated new toys, clothing and other gift items for children of all ages as well as adults. “These gifts are more than things – they are a message to those in need that they are loved and part of a community where we are all in this together,” explains Chaplain Bryan Lewis, who helped coordinate both Food for Families and Christmas Wishes. So far Christmas Wishes has collected over 376 gifts, which will be given to people served by several local organizations including Interfaith, Red Church, Adventist Community Services, ATCAA’s Family Shelter & Learning Center, Center for a Non-Violent Community, Sonora Elementary School and Jamestown Elementary School.
