Avery, CA...On November 6th at 8:30am lions Barbara Matthews, Gerry Sachs, Ronnell Hein, Dennis Duggins, Patty Turcotte, Barbara Guevara and non Lion Victoria Guevara arrived at Avery Middle School to judge the Peace Poster Contest.  The theme this year was"Our World, Our Future".

From left to right 1st -Emily Bolton, 2nd - Kaela Dishion, 3rd - Austin Varn

Mrs. Christine Greenberg, the school librarian, was in charge of this contest. There were 12 anxious students explaining their posters to us. the names of these students are Austin Varn, Mini Avila, Allison Maring, Kaela Dishion, Brendan Dishion, Emily Bolton, Chloe Crawford, Chloe Cockshott, Laken George, Kayci Avila, Jodie Hall and Quincy Camper. It was not an easy job, as all of the posters were so good, and this was the most we have ever had.

After deliberating for some time we came up with the three winners. They were, 3rd place Austin Jarn, 2nd place Kaela Dishion and in 1st place Emily Bolton. Emily received a $50.00 check from the Lions and the two runners up each received $25.00. Emily's poster went on to the 4H District meeting, which encompasses 63 clubs, and her poster came in first place. Her poster will now go to the next level at the MD4 Convention in Ontario, CA on February 14th-15th. We wish her luck.

Emily and her parents will be our guest at our Lions dinner meeting in January.
