Significant Damage to Sonora Elementary in Fire Last Night
Sonora, CA...About 9:45pm last night reports of a commercial fire alarm at Sonora Elementary came in. Usually these end up being false alarms but unfortunately this was not the case last night. A fire raged through the F building and caused damage to several classrooms. According to the TCU command center there were 13 Fire Engines and Crews and 3 Fire Chiefs as well on this fire at it's peak. Sonora Elementary will be out on Thanksgiving break this next week so it does give administrators a few days to assess the damage and make plans on where best to hold the classes displaced by the fire....
At the peak of the Sonora Elementary fire, engines from surrounding areas were told to "Move Up and Cover" areas left undercovered by the response to this incident.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and additional details will be available tomorrow.
