26 Year Old Manteca Man Loses Life in Hay Truck Accident
Groveland, CA...A 26 year old Manteca Man was driving a 1989 International Harvester hay truck eastbound on Cottonwood Road approaching the Clavey River Bridge. He was in excess of 45 mph down a long grade towards the bridge and was not able to slow the vehicle prior to the right hand curve in the roadway....
The vehicle continued through metal guardrail on the bridge and fell approximately 100ft off the bridge to the river canyon below. He was pinned in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
It is not stated in the release but this is in the Rim Fire area and crews have been working hard to get straw in place to slow down the erosion before the heavy winter storms set in.
