Bear Valley Announces Opening Day November 30 and Holiday Events

Bear Valley, Calif., (Nov 18, 2013) – Bear Valley Mountain is scheduled to open at least one lift Saturday, November 30, 2013. The scheduled opening day ushers in a holiday weekend Winterfest, featuring special meals, extraordinary events and much more – including the first annual Bear Valley Polar Dash, a fundraising events for local schools to be held at the ski area. Thanksgiving Dinner, November 28 (at the Creekside Dining Room -$25 per person)
Thanksgiving dinner will be served at the Lodge Thursday, November 28. The resort is also offering discounts on lodging and all events taking place over the holiday weekend.

Backcountry Film Festival, Friday November 29 – Fund Raising Event & Food Drive ($10 for Adults and $5 for kids 12 & under. Free lift ticket with canned food item) -- Bear Valley Mountain will continue the celebration throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend as part of its “Winterfest” weekend activities, including a Backcountry Film Festival to be held Friday November 29 at 7:30pm at the Cathedral Lounge. This event is also slated to raise funds for local schools. In addition to local schools, Bear Valley is looking to fill the local food bank by offering a free lift ticket to every paid attendee that brings a canned good on movie night for the annual “Santa Express” food drive.

Bear Valley Polar Dash Fun Run/Walk, Saturday, November 30 ($10 for Adults and $5 for kids 12 & under) -- If there is snow on the ground, the resort plans to offer a snowshoe bound course. If dirt trails are still available then get out your hiking shoes. At least one lift will be turning to accommodate various course options. Registration for the event starts at 9 a.m. and paid registration includes a free breakfast and commemorative T-shirt. All Proceeds benefit local schools. Bear Valley Chef Henry Chaperont plans to serve up a hearty brunch and the bar will be open serving hot chocolates, coffee, Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. The season pass office and retail services will also be open at 9 a.m.

Projected Opening Day - Lift Access for Skiing and Snowboarding, November 30 - Guests that are ready to ski or snowboard, will find lift access available, based on natural snow and conditions permitting. Interested guests should check the company website or call as opening day may be delayed. The resort will continue every weekend in December, conditions permitting through December 15. Daily operations are scheduled to begin December 20, 2013.

Winterfest (Saturday, November 30)
Winterfest continues on Saturday with an open house party at Bear Valley Real Estate, a bon fire in front of the lodge, a fashion show and live music in the Cathedral lounge at Bear Valley Lodge.
