The West Calaveras Rotarians Welcome You to Valley Springs and Wish You Peace

Valley Springs., CA...How many Rotarians does it take to install a sign? A lot of them when it requires raising a large sign high into the air. Thanks to the Rotary Club of West Calaveras and President Gary Tofanelli, a new Welcome to Valley Springs sign has been installed along the boundary of The Terrace shopping center. The sign was designed with space available for other organizations to add their logo in the future...

After a few hours spent assembling the sign and hoisting to the top of the posts for installation, the Rotarians then moved to the Valley Springs Elementary School community garden to complete a Peace Pole.

The idea of a Peace Pole was originally suggested by Past President Helen Bravo. The Valley Springs site was the second pole installed, with the first at Toyon Middle School. There are eight signs circling the pole, with the phrase "Peace Begins With You" in eight different languages.

The Peace Pole has been so well received that the Rotarians hope to continue building them in other locations around the county.

The West Calaveras Rotary Club meets each Thursday morning at the La Contenta Golf Course at 7:30 am. Visitors are welcome.
