Ebbetts Pass Youth Soccer League Season Update

Murphys, CA..Players and Member Families, If not only another great weekend of local soccer, this weekend was also a reminder that the seasons are changing as we depart from the triple digit heat of late summer into the cooler autumn months of our recreational season...

EPYSL would like to take this opportunity to remind all players and their families that soccer is an all weather sport and all scheduled games will be played in all weather conditions, from pouring rain to frigid temperatures. Only in the event of lightening will the League determine to delay, cancel and or reschedule games. Please support your fellow players, coaches, referees and the League by making every effort to attend games despite inclimate weather.

EPYSL 2013-14 Season - Tryouts

Sunday - October 20, 2013

Off Season League & Tournament Play Opportunities

It's about this time of year EPYSL begins to look beyond the rec season to the variety of playing opportunities available for our young athlestes in the off season. For boys and girls currently playing in the U10, U13 & U16 divisions (8 - 18 year olds), both league play including winter league and sping league, as well as tournament play opportunities afford our players the opportunity to keep their foot on the ball long after fall rec season.

League play is typically characterized as an 8+week playing season within our current District with regular travel required to a variety of central valley playing locations between January - March (winter) and March - June (spring). Teams practice locally typically 2-3 days per week over the course of the season. League play during these two season provides an intensive period for player development training with a higher, more competitive level of play. Players who participate in off season league play often return to rec season as some of EPYSL's strongest technical and tactical players.

Tournament play is a great option for athletes who for a variety of reasons would rather not commit to a full, multi-month playing season but who want to remain active soccer players between December and July each year. Tournament teams can be derived from a list of active players and players can express interest in those tournaments that suit their schedules. Games can be all over northern California and western Nevada. Tournament teams typically practice 2 - 4 weeks prior to attending an event.

If either of these options interest your young athlete (or if they just want to experience tryouts for the first time) we encourage them to attend EPYSL's off season tryouts scheduled for Sunday, October 20. For more information, contact Jeff Gouveia jeff@bearvalleyrealestate.com or Scott Fairman sfairman@cisco.com.

EPYSL 2013 - Make Up Day for August 24 Cancellation Possible

To keep you apprised of potential scheduling changes, EPYSL together with interleague partners Calaveras and Linden Youth soccer leagues, are still in discussion about making up the games lost on August 24 due to air quality issues from the Rim Fire.

It is possible we will add this to the end of the season on November 9. If this does take place, the end of the season tournament (U10, U13, U16 only) currently scheduled for November 9 would be moved to November 16-17. Stay tuned . . .
