Sierra Nevada Logging Museum Hit By Wire Thieves
White Pines, CA....In the last day or two, someone stole a major part of the electrical cord that ran from the old portable generator to the large electrically powered chainsaw in our large chainsaw exhibit. There would be a substantial amount of copper in that cable, but its historical significance is certainly much more valuable...
We urge the pinetree readers to keep their eyes open for the approximately one inch or inch and a quarter black electrical cable.
I've been told that there was 300 feet of cable on the reel and it is all gone.
The Museum is a wonderful organization and if you would like to help out what they do is below...
What the Museum Does
The Sierra Nevada Logging Museum –
• Conveys the history of the logging and lumbering industry as it evolved in the Sierra Nevada region since the mid 1800s before the discovery of gold to the present day.
• Educates visitors about the economic, social, cultural and environmental effects of this industry on the development of communities in the Sierra Nevada.
• Acts as a resource center for education and historical research.
• Describes current trends in the Sierra Nevada logging and lumber industry, and the social and economic influences that continue to shape it.
• Keeps the history of the logging industry in the Sierra Nevada region alive so that its historical relevance is not lost.
