Ray George Borean 1933-2013

Murphys, CA...Ray George Borean, 79, born November 22, 1933, died September 7, 2013, Murphys California. Son of Pompeo and Maria Borean (who immigrated from Italy), husband of RoxAnne, brother of Les, father of Mike, Bitsy, Jane, Paul and Tony, grandfather of Chad, Jordan, Jacquie, Heidi, Scott, Kyle, Suzanne, Julia, Sean, Sarah, Jessie, Ashley and great-grandfather of Raiden. Fixer of anything that was broken. Builder of the family home. Worker of wood. Teacher of minds. Sailor of home built boats. Camper of Yosemite. Watcher of grandchildren's athletic events. Gardener of fresh tomatoes and sweet strawberries. Driver of old trucks. Curiosity was his middle name....

Ray studied at University of California, Berkeley, where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts. He then spent a career as a teacher in the public school system, Job Corps and the California Youth Authority where he helped more than one boy turn his life around. Ray believed in giving back to the community in which he lived, where he volunteered as a firefighter with the Ebbetts Pass Fire Department for over 20 years. Ray enjoyed his retirement, traveling, volunteering in Yosemite National Park, and cheering his grandchildren on in their sporting endeavors.

Funeral to be held on Saturday, September 21st, 11:00am at St Patricks Catholic Church in Murphys. Reception to follow. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be sent in memory of Ray to: Yosemite Conservancy, 101 Montgomery Street, Suite 1700, San Francisco, CA 94104.
