Joan McNeill Muetterties 3/14/1937 – 8/19/2013
Arnold, CA...Joan McNeill Muetterties was born to Albert and Sarah McNeill in Philadelphia, PA on March 14, 1937 and died August 19, 2013 after a long-term battle with Parkinson's Disease. She attended West Chester State College and graduated from Chester County Hospital School of Nursing. After passing the Pennsylvania State Boards she was so young that she had to wait to become a licensed RN. Married to Larry Muetterties in 1958, they had three children, Timothy Muetterties, Heidi Ward and Christopher Muetterties and a baby girl that didn't survive. Joan worked in labor and delivery at Chester County Hospital and Wilmington General Hospital before moving to Fremont, California in . In 1970 Joan and Larry moved to Arnold, California where she was the Night Shift Supervisor at Bret Harte Hospital in Murphys. Joan was always described as a very caring nurse by the many patients whose lives she touched. When the hospital closed, she obtained her Real Estate Broker's license and worked with her husband in their real estate business for many years before retiring...
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Albert McNeill and Sarah Elizabeth McNeill of Pennsylvania, and her brother Albert McNeill, Jr. of Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband Lawrence P. Muetterties of Arnold, her children Timothy (Lisa) Muetterties of Arnold, Heidi (Barry)Ward of Arnold, and Christopher (Carah) Muetterties of Angels Camp. She is also survived by her grandchildren Dylan Muetterties, Rachael, Mallory, and Madison Ward, and Jordan, Albert and C. Bailey Muetterties, as well as numerous nieces and nephews on the east coast and here in California. She has left an empty space in the lives of her family and many friends.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 22 from 1 – 6 PM, at Angels Memorial Chapel in Angels Camp. Private Internment Service to be held at the Protestant Cemetary in Angels Camp on Saturday, August 24, 2013. A Memorial Service to be held at Foothill Community Church in Angels Camp on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Foothill Community Church, Rock Youth Group, P.O. Box 518, Angels Camps, CA 95222
