Wesley Brandt Andahl 1924 - 2013
San Andreas, CA...Wesley Brandt Andahl was born on June 9, 1924 in Bismark, North Dakota to Julius Mathias Andahl and Esther Myrtle Coddington. He died at age eighty-nine of cancer on July 28th 2013 in San Andreas, CA. Wes grew up on a ranch with thirteen siblings. He joined the Navy in early 1942. Wes served on the destroyer “The Healy” during World War II in the Pacific Theatre till 1945. Upon returning from the war Wes earned his high school degree and finished his education at Cal Poly. Wes was a Federal Plant Quarantine Officer in the Bay Area until 1954. In 1955 Wes and Frances moved to Calaveras County where Wes became the youngest agricultural commissioner in the state. Wes served as the County Agriculture Commissioner and Director of Weights and Measures for twenty-six years. In 1954 Wes was healed from a deadly fever and devoted his life to Christ. He served in Calaveras County as a minister and leader in multiple churches. He built and started the Mountain Ranch Community church where he taught Sunday school and pastored for seventeen years. Upon retirement he committed himself to full-time ministry with the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International and later the Businessmen’s Fellowship. Wes served as a missionary in over fifteen different countries. Also, for the past twenty-eight years Wes held a bible study every Wednesday at Vallecito Prison Camp. Outside of living his life for Christ Wes enjoyed hunting, gardening and reading Louis L’Amour novels...
Wes is survived by his wife of sixty-five years Frances Rebecca Wiles, his son Brandt and Kathy Andahl, daughter Linda and Mark Jacobson, and son Mark and Debbie Andahl. Grandchildren Jon and Autumn Andahl, Jason Andahl, Matthew and Mitzi Andahl, Philip Jacobson, Rebecca and Cory Turner, Sam Andahl, Kristy Jacobson, David Andahl, and eight great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son Bryant Andahl.
There will be a funeral service in honor of Wes August 3rd 2013 at the San Andreas Community Covenant Church at 11:30am.
