Barbara Martin (1946-2013) Celebration of Life August 5th
Barbara Ann Martin, age 66, of Arnold, California, passed away on, July 28, 2013 after a 2 year struggle with Glioblastoma Multiform.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, August 5th at Chapel of the Pines with a meal provided following the service. Pastor Chris Kalton of the Chapel will be officiating. Barbara was born in Oakland, California on December 10, 1946. She graduated from San Lorenzo High School and continued on to receive a baccalaureate Degree from California State University, Hayward in Music and Voice followed by a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. She did further graduate studies in educational administration and received her teaching credentials...
Barbara was married to Gerald on July 26, 1980, they were married 33 years.
Barbara worked as a principle for Logan High School in Union City, California, for several decades. More recently, she served for nearly a decade as Worship Arts Director at Chapel of the Pines, Arnold California. Barbara was a committed Christian who enjoyed music and worship, the arts, and frequent trips with her husband to their favorite place, Maui, Hawaii. Barbara and Gerald loved the companionship of their German shepherd, Gabie. Barbara and Gerry were actively involved for several decades in the music and arts ministry of Redwood Chapel, Castro Valley, California. Barbara made a significant impact on those around her and remained active in her church and community until her cancer was diagnosed in 2011.
Barbara is survived by her spouse Gerald, her mother, Berniece, her daughters, Carla Padilla and husband Miguel, Barbara Vanderver and husband Tom, brother Richard, sister-in-law LouAnna, nieces Rebecca Shaver and husband Daniel, Jenny Dickson and husband Andrew, grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Tupou, Mia, Mason and Madeline Vanderver, grand niece Lily, grand nephews David and Charlie, and other family and friends.
Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Harold Rollins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Worship Ministry at Chapel of the Pines, P.O. Box 9, Arnold, California 95223.
