Jackson Police Activities League Summer Baseball Program
AMADOR COUNTY, CALIFORNIA– The Jackson Police Department is gearing up for our 2013 countywide Jackson Police Activities League Summer Baseball Program. The program is an official departmental program of the Jackson Police Department organized by the Jackson Police Activities League Program (JPAL). JPAL Baseball is open to boys and girls between the ages of eight and thirteen. There are no sign-up fees and no insurance or equipment cost for players. This is a non-competitive league where all kids play and scores are not kept. Sign-ups and player orientation will be held on Wednesday, June 12th at the Generation Life Church in Sutter Hill with sign-ups from 5 to 6 p.m. and orientation beginning at 6 p.m...
League play begins June 17th and ends on August 3rd. Practices will be held on Monday and Tuesday nights starting at 5:30 p.m. and go until 7 p.m. at the John Aime field in Detert Park in Jackson.
JPAL Baseball goes beyond just playing the game. The focus of this program is to teach kids leadership, confidence, teamwork and integrity.
This year JPAL is partnering with the Amador County Library in an effort to provide a more comprehensive summer reading program experience. The library program runs from June 17 through July 27 and further information is available at all the library branches: Main Library, Jackson, Ione, Plymouth, Pine Grove and Pioneer. Participating team members that complete each reading requirement are given fun prizes for their achievement from both the library and JPAL and if the whole team completes fifteen hours of reading, they earn a movie night at the Jackson Cinema from JPAL and are entered into the Amador County Library's grand prize drawling. This gives children an incentive to read and encourages teamwork to reach the final goal. This year’s reading program also focuses on providing children with a healthy eating education, in order to inspire better eating habits in today’s youth.
The Jackson Police Activities League is a recreation oriented juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily on athletics and recreational activities to tighten the bond between police officers and kids in the community.
Player registration forms are available from the Jackson Police Department, Jackson City Hall, Sutter Creek City Hall, Plymouth City Hall, all Amador County Library Branches and the Generation Life Church. An online version is available on the Jackson Police Department website: ci.jackson.ca.us/police_dept.html.
