Angels Camp's Own H. Stuart Manners Takes You on a Tour of Ebbetts Pass in His New Book.

Angels Camp, CA...This newly published book is titled, "The Sights and History of Arnold, Murphys and "Copper", and covers the history of Calaveras (south half) County from about 8,000 B.C. to today. An entire chapter is devfoted to the activities of our local indians. Then it jumps into the history of the first village that one would visit as they enter the county from the west, Telegraph City. Yes, it's just a ghost town today, but you'll see a picture of the Parks mansion which burned to the ground in 1921. It was a beauty! The foundations are still there for you to see...

Then, chapter two give the reader a wide spectrum of information about the very large Copperopolis area. The idea of the book is for a person to take a little trip, either in their own mind, or in real life, and travel the Ebbetts Pass Corridor along State Hwy. 4, from Telegraph City, up and over the pass, and on to Markleeville in Alpine County.

Each big or little village along the way has been researched so you can get a good idea of how that area was developed from it's beginnings. For example, from Murphys east to Big Trees it covers: Murphys, Forest Meadows, Hanford Hill, Hathaway Pines, Avery, Arnold, White Pines and Big Trees, plus an in depth study of the logging and lumber milling around the County.

The book can be purchased at all of the book stores, all of the big grocery stores, many of the visitor centers, and numerous other outlets. It retails for just $9.95, and each book is autographed by the author.
