Another Ballet Classic Comes to Calaveras -- Studio 4 Dance Theater Spring Showcase Features “Sleeping Beauty’s Wedding” May 3-4, 2013 in Angels Camp
Angels Camp, CA...Studio 4 Dance Theater’s Spring Showcase, coming up this weekend at the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp is an ambitious mix of classic ballet, jazz, hip-hop and contemporary dance, featuring original choreography to familiar classical and popular music. The ballet portion will be an abbreviated version of the third act of the timeless “Sleeping Beauty” ballet. “Sleeping Beauty’s Wedding” begins after the fateful kiss, and features Aurora and Prince Florimund, plus a number of other fairy tale characters as wedding guests. Puss in Boots and the White Cat, Princess Florine and the Blue Bird, Red Riding Hood and the Grey Wolf, Cinderella and her Prince, Precious Jewel Fairies, and Snow White (added by Lee for this show) all dance at the wedding celebration. The production features colorful original costumes designed and constructed by Jeanne Saylor. The music is by Tchaikovsky, who also composed the music to “The Nutcracker.”
Studio 4 Dance Theater’s Spring Showcase is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children 12 and under and are available at the box office (no credit cards.) For more information, call Tammie Lee at (209) 728-5347.
