"Ribs for "Kids" - Kirstie Mize's Senior Project Helped Fund Diabetes Research
Murphys, CA... Kirstie Mize is a senior at Bret Harte and her senior project was "Ribs for Kids". This was a fundraiser that was held last Saturday in Murphys Park. All proceeds benefited the American Diabetes Association in looking for a cure for juvenile type 1 diabetes. It was another great afternoon in Murphys Park. Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar (glucose), starches and other food into energy needed for daily life.
