Orman Family Struck with Tragedy as Son Loses Life in Paragliding Accident

Las Cienegas, AZ...The family of Murphys resident Dr. Rodger Orman was struck with tragedy yesterday. Their son Zach passed away as the result of a paragliding accident. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers. From the Santa Cruz Arizona County's release on the accident. "On April 7, 2013 at approximately 1208 p.m., the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call advising of a paragliding accident that occurred at Las Cienegas National Conservation area. Sonoita-Elgin Fire personnel and sheriff's deptuies responed. According to sheriff’s deputies, the victim, Zach Orman, 28 years of age from Tucson Arizona, an assistant instructor with a paragliding organization, was attempting to land his glider when he encountered and was caught in a “dust devil”...


Mr. Orman was violently thrown to the ground and severely injured. Mr. Orman was found unconscious and suffered from obvious broken bones. He was flown to University Medical Center for advance life support. Unfortunately, Mr. Orman succumbed to his injures."

The Dr.Orman and his wife Holly and their family have been in addition to his being a local physician have also been deeply involved in our community in many ways, for many years. Zach was a medical student in AZ, grew up in Murphys and was a graduate of Bret Harte.
