Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese and Wine Festival 2013

Murphys & Copperopolis, CA...Lavender Ridge Vineyard is pleased to announce its second annual Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese and Wine Festival. The event will be held on Saturday May 4th from 12pm – 4pm. Farmstead cheese will be available for tasting along with local and regional cheese makers as special guests describing their history, production practices, facility and what it truly means to craft an “Artisan Cheese”...

Among the guests cheese makers will be Mariano Gonzalez, cheese maker for Fiscalini Cheese Company in Modesto. Mariano is a two time winner of “Worlds Best Cheddar” from the World Cheese Awards in London. The Fiscalini Bandage-Wrapped Cheddar was judged one of the 16 best cheeses in the world in 2012. Also in attendance will be cheese makers and representatives from Nicolau Farms in Modesto, Marin French Cheese Company from Petaluma, Nicasio Valley Cheese Company, Central Coast Creamery and Sacha Laurin from Winters Cheese Company.

Along with plenty to sample, each cheese selection will be paired with a different wine produced by Lavender Ridge Vineyard and Coppermine Winery. Judy Creighton, Cheese Program Director for Lavender Ridge Vineyard will offer special wine and cheese pairings from their Cheese Market selections and guests of the festival can create their own perfect gourmet ensemble by shopping the marketplace for additional specialty food products and gifts items.

The Artisan Cheese and Wine Festival will offer up to five workshops ranging from crafting, understanding, serving and showcasing cheese for entertaining, to winemaking demonstrations and vineyard tours. “The Art of Barrel Making” and its importance in the winemaking process as well “How to Make the Worlds Best Cheddar” conducted by Fiscalini Cheese Company are just some of the highlights of the educational series. Special guests will include Mama Goat and her “Little Kids” for petting and photos.

Tickets to this years Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese and Wine Festival are available for $40 per person or $30 for wine club members and can be purchased online at http://lavenderridgevineyard.com/upcomingevents.html or by visiting the Lavender Ridge Tasting Room in downtown Murphys at 730 Main Street.
