Play It Forward with Reggie Jackson for Alex and Macaila Marshall

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte hosted "Play it Forward" at their home opener against Argonaut on Wednesday. The score of the game didn't go their way on Wednesday but almost everything else did. “Mister October” made a March appearance after traveling all the way from Tampa Florida to attend. Reggie Jackson sat in place of Alex Marshall, a Bret Harte player who, together with his younger sister Macaila, died in early February. Reggie Jackson is a longtime friend of Alex's and Macaila's Mother, Seanie Marshall's goal ws to bring the community together with an old school baseball theme and raise money for Bret Hart programs and say thank you to the community for their support...

Mr. Jackson was very gracious with his time and gave a heartfelt speech before the game and signed autograph after autograph. A quote from his pregame speech to the players. "It takes ability to run fast but it takes heart to run hard" he exhorted them to run hard at everything they do.

After the finish of the game those in attendance held hands, formed a giant circle and launched balloons into the sky in Alex and Macaila's honor. The "Straw That Stirred the Drink" helped the Bret Harte students and community take more steps down the path of healing.
