Click Above for a Blast From The Past Slideshow of "only" 687 photos from the 2009 Irish Day Parade and Festivities. I know, I know, we will try to do better this year. 2009 when Paul was the Grand Marshal was one of my favorite years. Until this year of course....

8:00 a.m. The day begins with a hearty pancake breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m.
at the Congregational Church on the corner of Church and Algiers Streets. Sponsored by the church’s Men’s Fellowship, the menu includes ham, eggs, pancakes, juice and coffee. $6.50 for adults and $4 for children under 6. To-go orders will be available.

10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Some 100 vendors offering fine arts and crafts, home-baked delicacies, Irish Day t-shirts, souvenirs and many tasty things to eat and drink will line historic Main St. A wide variety of foods, including corned beef sandwiches, Greek gyros, corn dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, and hamburgers will be available. There will be items to satisfy the sweet tooth such as kettlecorn and almond roca. Beverages on sale will include fresh lemonade, Irish coffee, beer and local wines.

There will be pony rides and face painting to entertain the young folk. In addition, all the shops on Main St. will be open to explore and appreciate.

Live entertainment with a decidedly Irish theme will be presented throughout the day on two stages and along Main Street. Bagpipe music by the White Hackle Pipe & Drums will fill the air. The Tommyknocker Cloggers will set everyone’s feet a-tapping.

Among the other performing groups will be Sequoia, Matt Cullen & Friends, Jim Lanier and the Bandoleros, a dulcimer player, and Jim Bailey’s Plan B.

11:00 a.m. To the swirl of bagpipes, the Murphys Irish Day Parade will make its way down Main St. The line-up will include musicians, including Al Lehr’s circus wagon calliope, classic cars, youth groups, civic organizations, equestrians, canines, police and fire units, and a ten-foot-tall leprechaun Rusty O’Flattery.

Matt and Suzan Cullen, of Gold Country Coffee Roasting fame, will be the Grand Marshals. Announcers Dave Bowman and Jim Bailey will be stationed along the paraderoute to describe each entry as it passes.

4:00 p.m. Drawing for the Win a Trip to Ireland raffle. The lucky ticket holder
