Teenager raises thousands to save Orangutans

Murphys, CA...The Orangutan's best friend - Allie Boyer. Allie is a 14 year old who cares about wildlife and decided to DO something about species extinction. Allie appears on a new episode of the "Jungle Deep" podcast. She as raised thousands of dollars to help save Orangutans! This California teenager began learning about Orangutans when she was seven years old, and they have been her passion ever since. A few years ago she decided to start a fundraising campaign to raise money to send to Orangutan Outreach, a conservation organization, to help orphaned youngsters of the endangered ape. She came up with the idea of recycling purses, and called it "Purses for Primates". Since then she has gathered hundreds of donated purses, held purse parties where she resells them at a bargain price, and has raised thousands of dollars. 100% of the funds raised have been donated to Orangutans....

On this most recent episode, #23, of the podcast that "Explores the Tropical Lifestyle", Allie and her mom, Pam, tell their story with host, Dr. Jones. Allie tells what it is like to be a youngster campaigning for jungle animals in danger of extinction. She describes how she thought of the idea for "Purses for Primates", why she loves Orangutans so much, and how it lead to her latest venture, "Antiques for Apes". Allie tells how she caught the attention of famed animal-actress, Betty White, and about her plans for the future. It is in inspirational story demonstrating how children can do important things to help save endangered wildlife.
